Anyone know a good place to stay in SanFran, close to airport, nice but not too expensive?

I'll want to see a little of the city before i catch my plane to Maui on Nov 22! I'll be there Nov 20 & 21.

Rachal

hey Rachal! sorry, I don't have any info about a hotel, but look at the "bay area meet-up" thread in the member's section. A meet is planned for that weekend.

Yes, as SV said, check out the Bay Area thread.

And if you stay close to the airport, you won't see much of the city! Well, you will, but the last train back to the airport area is at midnight or so...

Hello MsMolly,
San Francisco International Airport ( SFO ) is located about 12 miles from San Francisco, so it would be more practical for you to find a hotel in the city.

There are two hotels that immediately come to mind that are reasonably priced. There is the Commodore hotel at 825 Sutter street ( which is about 4 blocks from Union Square ) which is about $89.00 a night and then there is the Ansonia hotel at 711 Post street ( 3 blocks from Union Square and 7 blocks from Chinatown ) at $66.00 a night breakfast included.

I stayed at FISHERMAN'S WHARF (sp?) in the Bay Area, and the place rocks! The hostel is very decent, the crew is awesome and very secure, it's actually a pretty calm place even though the tribe is well "mixed", anyway, you might wanna check on reservations because since the place is so good it's always full, from there you're close to Pier 5 (or 9) can't remember well, but anyway, you can go to Alcatraz, the Maritime Museum, or Golden Gate, transportation is not too difficult either, a taxi from there to downtown cost me about U$10, anyway, hope that this helps a little bit...
