Although I do not like spam, this is the type of place you want to stay in when you visit Cuba, this one is just bit expencive by 5 bucks or so.

When you stay in a private house which are all over the country, ( you can tell which house by a symbol on the front door of the house) you really get to know the people you are staying with. One of the families I stayed with on 2 occations for a total of a week really looked after me as if I were there own son. I will never forget them.

The family gets to keep some of the money and any tips/gifts you leave for them, and that can mean alot to the families there. If you stay in a hotel or resort, all the money there just goes right into the goverments hands, they own everything from the all the rental cars to the guitar that the guy is playing on the beach for a couple dollars a day.

So basically a private house is the way to go, FO-SHEEZA!!!!!

Í took down an earlier post on that, but now that you mentioned it, I remembered my cousin and another friend that both did the same thing and stayed in private houses, had great experiences, and spoke of the legendary Cuban hospitality.

We will let this post sliiiiiidde ;)

I agree that its a good start, but also know that there are tons of these private homes to pick from, this description will give you a good base to start from, and compare to others when and if you go. The good part about this particlar post is if you went spur of the moment ( like I have done), you would have somewhere to go. :D :D B)
