Hostels, Homestay, Camping, Communes, Networking, ect...

What types of accommodations does everyone here use? and what are some of the stranger or more exciting places you have bedded down for the night?

^ wow I first read that sentence as " who are some of the strangers you have bedded down for the night"...;)

I usually do the hostel route. Though I have slept in some funny situations. A few below.

- Slept in a phone booth in Scotland. Got locked out of my hostel.
-My friend and I slept in the back of our station wagon car in oz. Not that unusual but it was a smaller station wagon so there was barely any room and we would park at the beach and pee in bushes and go to bed at 7pm because thats when it got dark. Oh yah and we slept on a piece of $2 foam that we bought at a yard sale.
- I did the whole Green Tortoise bus thing in Costa Rica . It's basically a hippy style bus that does tours. They have this gigantic communal mattress in the back of the bus where everyone beds up. Imagine after two weeks of this! The smell...ohhhh ewww..
-blah blah blah the list goes on...The good thing is I can sleep anywhere, with anyone (not as dirty as that sounds) ;)

Whatever suits the needs at the time. Ive had to sleep on a park bench after forgetting where I was staying in San Sebastian, met someone whose family had a condo in Lisbon, spent the night hiding behind a couch in the hostel common area because I didnt want to pay for a bed in London, the ever popular park in Pamplona, resting on the head of my random Australian seatmate (girl) while she slept on my shoulder on an overnight train, the filthy floor of a train cabin packed with shady characters because it was teh only place to stretch out. Most of these were pretty unpleasant at the time, but they make you appreciate sleeping soundly in a dry warm bed.
