Renting a home in another country
so here's the deal. a few friends and i are planning a move (kinda) we've sold everything we own, worked our asses off, and we are about to venture into the un known. well sort of. none of us have visa's. just a passport. and i have dual citizenship to one of the countrys in europe but not the one we want to live in.and the paperwork is still processing so i wont have the ID card till well after i leave. i know here in the US it's possible to rent a place without papers.. i was just wondering how it goes over on that end? prefferable ireland. any tips on how i should present myself? and rental companys i should stay clear from? anyone know of people who's done this? or websites with information? i was thinking of just looking for a hostel to live at but there are 3 of us so a house would be nice. ive been looking at alot of the listings we can afford a rental easy.. any comments or information anyone in here could give me? pleasee?

ah shivvy... Last months Outside or Adventure magazine... I can't remember which right now had a list of websites that are for renting homes in other places and I cannot remember any of them right now! But it might be an avenue to check out.

depending on the city you might have good luck with the vacation homes/ rentals section of craigslist. i found some well priced places in amsterdam there.

Could you give us more details ? How long do you plan on staying (6 months, your life) ? Which are the countries you are considering, which don't you want to live in ? Visa formalities vary from country to country. Usually, you don't need a visa for a stay below 90 days, so that should give you time to initiate your immigration in the new country, find work or a place to study.
Here are a few links for apartment rentals in Europe (have no idea wether they are good or not): http://www.only-apartments.com/index_en.html http://www.accomodationsrome.com/indexlinks.htm http://www.oh-holidays.com/ http://www.gumtree.com/london/95/7808595.html But I think the best is to find out on a search engine the name of the national/local newspaper and look at the classified. You'll find cheaper deals there. There are now newspapers in english in just about every country of the world, so no prob with the languages. -_- |
