Default What to do??

I was wondering how early you have to book hostels in australia? If 4 of us are in sydney,, and then want to go to byron bay.. is like a week before early enough to get a room for the 4 of us in Byron??

I also just booked a room in WakeUp! in Sydney for May5,, has anyone been there??

Thanks for all your help!
Cheers,

wake up is excellent! seriously the place has everything... 2 huge ass tv rooms, cheap bar, tours, you name it.

Byron bay I'd go for The Arts Factory, old hippy place and they sell cool tshirts!

As for when t book... what time of the year are you going? To be honest I found that the popular hostels will book up very fast so get booking asap!

all I know about WakeUp is that it's about two blocks away from my house and it looks pretty cool

Two cool hostels I stayed in during my journey around Oz were:

Trekkers: This place is outside of Surfers a bit, but is really nice, clean and laid back. They have a shuttle into town every hour (its a 10/15 minute trip) plus a pool, BBQ, etc.

On the Wallaby: This place is outside of Cairns, up in the Atherton Tablelands. I stayed here as part of an adventure tour. Both the tour and the hostel was great. I highly recommend it.

enjoy your trip to Oz, its a fantastic place!!

In Byron Bay, we stayed in Aquarius. It was alright, cheap meal in the evening, the rooms were decent enough. It was completely full up while we were there, as it was "schoolies week" (school holidays, kids go to the beach!), so it was pretty hectic. Nice location, so close to everything.

i'm not sure about short term but getting rental properties in sydney is pretty darn hard at the moment - too many people looking and not enough places available. so because of that it's getting very expensive. check out gumtree
