Hi Guys,
Just a quick email to reaffirm the ´watch your stuff carefully on the world´s metro systems´ thing.
I have become a victim of a pickpocket whilst on the metro in Barcelona. At least i think thats where it happened as i didn´t feel a hand go anywhere near me.
All i know is that i had my camera in a hard to open velcroed pocket upon entering the metro and upon exiting I was standing without my beloved camera!!!
I reported it to police, solely for insurance purposes but the camera is gone. Thankfully i had emptied the contents not too long before so i didn´t loose too many of my photos.
So there you go, take extra care of your stuff whilst travelling guys, especially on the metros.
Oh...the good news - i now have a brand new camera - this time safely stored in my always locked, always worn on my front whilst on the metro day pack.
cheers,
cliffo

That sucks to hear Cliffo... I know I would be totally bummed to lose my camera.
This warning just goes to show the importance of security for those beloved posessions whilst on our journey's throughout the world. Be sure to stay safe and keep your stuff safe.

Im sorry to hear that too!
It goes to show no matter how careful you are you are bound to slip up somewhere on your travels.
On a seperate note;
Mistakes are going to be made on big trips, you can't be the on the ball 24/7. Just be prepared and try to keep your cool. If you freak out you'll make the situation worse, try to keep a clam face. Its you that needs to make it through the trip, not the material things your tow along! Everyone at home would rather have you come back in one piece then the camera and mp3 player you brought with you.

My sister also got her pack cleaned on a Barcelona metro, I believe. So, really watch out on that!

TAKE THIS ADVICE TO HEART EVERYONE!!! SHIT HAPPENS!!!
Here is my related event:
I was sitting outside in a fenced in eating area in Piazza San Spirito in Florence, Italy....my 3 friends and i were having dinner and 1 of the girls put her handbag with her insulin and her camera next to her feet and this guy grabbed it from under the fence and jumped on his acomplice's motorbike and sped off....Immediately i jumped out of my seat, hopped the fence, and sprinted like crazy after the motorbike and I was right behind it until they death defyingly turned out into a road filled with traffic and didnt get hit and when I tried to follow them I had to stop to avoid being flattened by an oncoming bus....it really pissed me off how close i was to catching those fucking asses on foot....they would had been hurt bad...but on a positive note.....more then likely they will think the insulin is a cool drug and shoot it up and die....karmic balance will be fulfilled....oh and the girl had enough insulin back at the hotel to last another week until she could make it to Rome to get more....SO WATCH OUT EVERYONE!!!

I know exactly how you guys feel. When I was in Rio de Janeiro at the carnaval, I got pickpocket too, how I have no idea. I did not feel a thing, and there was a big crowd. The good thing it was a dispossable camera so no big deal, but the pictures were all gone.
So just becareful on how you carry your stuff, and where you go. :greenguy:

It's all about taking precautions and then hoping for the best. I can't tell you how many times my sister's boyfriend has had his cell phone stolen because he puts it in one of his pant pockets. Then he started putting it in the front pocket of his shirt and lost it down a cliff as he bent over to get a better look at a canyon.
It really does suck to have your stuff stolen; feels like such a violation.
