The CIA said there was a threat for Paris, either main train lines or underground. All has been cleared as of now but a bad time for all this, while it only makes me a little more nervous than I would have been it sure as hell is not helping the Parents and friends feel better about my trip. What a F-ed up world we are living in right now......

sure is f**** up, but I just returned from there a week ago. There were several bomb threats, and a few lines in the metro were closed for half a day. Luckily it was nothing. And if it isn't bomb threats, then the workers are on strike. I wouldn't get too stressed, this isn't the first time, and while you can never be too sure, they did appear to have somewhat of a handle on it. The way I thought of it after Istanbul and Madrid is, while I won't intentionally put myself in the middle of a mess, I refuse to stop living, there is only so much you can do before you go bonkers. Lets keep hope alive

You definately cannot stop living. Your odds of being killed in a terrorist are attack are about the same as being killed by a vocanic eruption....so don't sweat it. Besides, if you start drastically altering your behavior you are playing into the terrorists hands. So go out, live life, have fun!!

My theory is i have just as much chance of being killed in a terrorist attack here is OZ or oversees, actually its probably more here seeing as 2.5 tonnes of ammonium nitrate (bomb stuff) is "not accounted for" locally.
How can u missplace 2.5 tonnes?

That ^ is fricking weird. My personal view is that if you let terrorists change what you are going to do, they win. I don't want to let those bastards win!

fuk. I am theoretically heading to paris either tomorrow or in a few days, via train of course.
During an interview Rick Steves was asked ¨how has travel changed in an age of terrorism [meaning post- September 11]?¨ His answer was ¨I have to talk to people like you all the time now.¨ lol

I wouldn't worry about the terroist threat...its stupid.
I've been getting lots of people lately asking me lately "Aren't you afraid to go to Europe with all the terroist threats?" HELL NO! lol
We're all tools of the media, don't let those stories scare you. The U.S is just as likely to get hit as Paris is
If you want to go to Paris in the next few weeks, go!! I can honestly say nothing will happen.

If you think about it, getting killed by terrorists is not a bad way to go. Not at a young age or anything, but in general.
