Yeah I'm planning on getting back into shape too, BUT not until january 1st! Umm hello ppl it's almost december, which means copious amounts of booze and food. Plus chocolate and egg nog. So January 1st is a much more feasible goal for me. I hate gym work outs. I like to run and I used to run 5 times a week so I gotta get back into that. I used to be at that point where you didn't feel like you wanted to die when running. It takes a good couple months to get there, so I gotta start at the beginning again!

Yeah I think it did. At least thats what my tight ass jeans are telling me! Actually I think it is very hard to try to do any kind of diet in the weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas. There is just too much yummy food around and chocolate and too much temptation in general.
Anyway, I will get back into it in the New Year...

Didn't know about this contest until now, but I'm happy to report that I've already lost half of my Australian beer-and-meat-pie gut, which only took about a week to build. Yech.
Unfortunately, I just had a pile of Taco Bell for lunch.

I'm totally sucking. Haven't signed up for the gym since my school has a good one and it's much cheaper, just can't use it till January. Oh well, I walked around downtown today. Good times.

Well, due to exams weeks I've been eating like a mad person.. all these really really unhealthy food... hot dogs in between library brakes... and I've provably eaten my on weight in chocolate... but as today was my last exam until Feb.. I'M STARTING TODAY!!!!!!!!
My goal is basically to get leaner (stroger if possible...) all I can do are three and a half push ups.. really pathetic.. and I plan to loose about 2/3 kilos and be 51kg... a bit less could work too, but baby steps...

So, the other day I found this Nike site that has a really cool series of work outs (really nice since some of them involve Brazilian dance, salsa, forza, or yoga... etc) So I'm gonna give it a try 'cause they seemed fun, besides I hate going to the gym and this is cheaper (= free). So check it out, it's on the women section.. but the instructor is a guy, so perhaps it works for guys as well. I liked it cause it seems possible to do (I give up on these things quite easily and I'mplanning to stick thru with it all summer!)
Direct link to the work out sessions

Currently about 5 pounds lost (in two weeks). Started the Jenny Craig diet (because that's where I work) and I've been working out 2-4 times a week (30-70 mins cardio then 30 mins core). I've had my off days though.
Like mo said losing weight is about eating healty and pretty much counting calories. My job stresses enjoying the foods you like but in moderation (like one cookie instead of 10). I have a problem with rare/medium rare steak and cheese curls - it's bad...and pricey.

Blinkchick - how is JC? What is your personal opinion? How is it $$ wise? Please share. I was interested in the LA Weigth Loss, but read some really horrible reports on it. Extremely costly, sales motivated, etc.

Well I personally love Jenny Craig. One of the girl's who works at another center used to work for LA Weight Loss and she said she hated every minute. JC is all about just giving people a nudge in the right direction...I'm kinda more of a guidance counselor. Costs vary depending on how much you want to spend. We have a few different programs: right now our special is $6 per week or 8 weeks for $36 plus the cost of food which averages 11-15 a day. It includes breakfast, lunch, dinner and a snack. Most centers are willing to work it out though if you only have so much $$. I have many clients that just get lunches and dinners and we work out what is healthy for the other meals. It works though, I wouldn't be there if it was all about the $$ and not about helping people.
Also JC isn't a group setting like Weight Watchers...all clients get 20 minutes one-on-one with a consultant. PM me if you want more detailed info (big brother is watching).

I have done weight watchers as well, and sometimes the group setting was extremely encouraging. (I have not tried Jenny Craig however, so I can't really compare...it is absolutely a program I would try too!)
Anyway...the thing I did like about ww is that you don't have to worry about buying special food and if you do the program properly you can really lose weight. I lost 40 lbs. It works! In fact, I fully intend to do it again once the New Year clicks in....

So, is anybody still at this? Now that the holidays are over, I figure I have no excuse not to get in better shape (although there's still way too much Christmas candy lying around my house!) Anyway, I figure accountability and encouragement is a great way to help us get our butts in gear, so I think we should keep this thread going!
I've been eating better, but also going to the gym a lot more. I'm really sore today from a psycho skip/step/kick-aerobics class followed by a athletic workout class, but it was good! Anyway, good luck to everybody that's still thinking about this!
