I have booked a holiday in Tanzania and Mozambique and travel in 6 days time but have just realised that I do not have the yellow fever innoculation. Although I can get this before I go I now realise it takes 10 days to become active.
The tour operator I bought the holiday from did not specifically tell me about this requirement but did point me to their web site for travel advice which states that Yellow Fever vaqccination is required for the trip. As I booked today (6 days before travel) should they have specifically warned me and should they offer me a full refund if I decide not to travel? At the time of purchasing my holiday I already had flights booked through British Airways - should they have warned me about yellow fever? |
In my personal opinion I dont think BA would have warned you for any medical conditions that may be in the country that you are travelling to. I think they would have said it would have been more your responsibillty to check with your foreign office. As you were booking a late holiday the tour operator did point you in the right direction with checking their website. I think you always run a risk when you book last minute deals any medical requirements and thats why it is a good idea to research any possible destinations before you travel.
Other information about yellow fever may be available from your general practitioner and it may be worth giving them a ring. |
I'm with Beergal on that, but who knows...It's normally the responsibility of the traveler to do the necessary research on anything related to your travels, including shots and vaccinations.
