I have a feeling most everybody knows about this one, but for those that are first timers at travel like I was last year and don't know, here's a hint...BEWARE the little old ladies (and some not so old) in white walking the streets of Granada with sticks of rosemary.
They come up to you and offer you something..I know, I know, but I did it anyway...and before you know it they're talking about your fortune and you realize they are going to ask for money. Being the kind person you are, you dig into your pockets and give change..THEN they go in for the kill..."I'm old. What am I going to do with change?," etc. So either you stupidly show them you don't have anything small and they take it from you and then give you a death wrist grip (really, there is such a thing!) or you say I don't have any more and then they grab you in a death wrist grip and demand you give them more money. You may just get robbed out of a few cents or euro, but it's not pleasant (especially after they grab your rosemary stick, break it in half and curse you) and it leaves your ego a bit beaten. After a few conversations with people where I was staying, I found out I wasn't the only person walking around Granada with the word TARGET stuck to their forehead (sadly, my ego was a bit relieved to hear this) and so to keep any others from suffering the same fate, I give you this advice...STAY AWAY FROM THE LADIES IN WHITE even when they grab at your shirt, just say no and push them away if you have to!!
