Default Traveling with Celiac/other dietary concerns

I know that many people have allergies or dietary issues. I will say that in my research and experience, one of the most difficult is a wheat allergy or a condition known as Celiac Diesease, which is similar.

So any tips? I was diagnosed with Celiac disease right after my trip to Europe and my experiences getting food, especially at a restaurant, in the United States have been rocky enough. Does anyone know how to travel and eat with Celiac?

In part, I think it depends where you're interested to go. Do you have a specific region in mind?

I travelled around oz with my friend who is allergic to wheat and gluten also dairy!!She was also a vegetarian!! It was a bit tiring at times for her I'm sure especially when we were in the outback!! But we just loaded up on rice cakes and wheatfree pasta etc...Her staple lunch was tomato , avocado (tons of them for cheap in oz) and a rice cake..You can be inventive. Of course eating out can suck. But She always lets the waitress know of her allergies and sometimes the restaurant makes her something special. Otherwise there is always a salad on the menu !

Thanks all...I just found out I'm moving to Germany for a few months so I'm gonna have to learn how to eat without wheat/gluten. The Celiac Travel website is pretty good!

I am still trying to come terms with my diet restrictions.
certain things like caffeine lower my seizure threshold.
and most people know I am a caffeine addict.
