Default Pick-pocketed in Costa Rica!

So yesterday I decided to go into San Isidro by myself to call home (I had promised my mom that I was going to on Saturday) and pick up some supplies we needed for the cabin. Everything was going fine until I went to board the bus back to the cabin. I noticed a suspicious person standing outside the bus and another inside the bus. Didn't really think much of it, but now I wish that I had. As I board the bus, I notice the one person from outside follows me in very closely, and once I'm about 3 seats back, the person from the inside blocked my way and wouldnt let me pass, no matter which way I tried to get around him, asking to get through, nothing. He just wouldnt budge. I knew what they were trying to do, and I thought i had made it away safely, until as soon as i get past them I check my pockets. Sure in shit, they nailed me for my mp3 player. I turned around to go after them, but by this point (not even 5 seconds later) they were off the bus and nowhere in sight. Granted they didnt get my passport, or any money or anything, but the fact of the matter is, pick pocketers are out there and they are good!!! Despite the fact i knew what they were trying to do, they still got me and i didnt feel a thing!!

That sucks man but at least it was "only" your MP3 player.

This should be a reference thread for people traveling abroad for the first time. My sister doesn't believe it is possible for someone to pickpocket her without her knowing. I am going to show this to her.

Fortunately you and Amber have already had a good time in Costa Rica so that won't ruin your memories of the trip.

Wow, that's crazy. Glad to know they didn't take anything irreplacable! I was torn on bringing my 'Pod, but I did, and hopefully it makes it back home with me.

Good luck on the rest of your trip and I hope nothing else gets stolen!

I really want to learn how to do that. I mean, not for business venture purposes, but I've found pickpocketing fascinating ever since I saw the Oliver musical for the first time!!!

...not to be insensitive Gonzo, I feel for you! Honestly!

Chris, I'm sorry to hear about that. At least you're ok & didn't lose your true valuables.
