Question

Hey everyone, tihs is my first post here!
I am planning a trip this summer, and one of the things that stresses me the most concerns my back. I used to have small backaches in the past but now i'm okay. I am still afraid that these might come back during my trip, since I will have an heavy bag and a tent with me all the time. I am also rather small and not heavy at all.
If someone has any tips for me, concerning strechting I could do everyday, creams, pills or anything to prevent and heal backaches, they are more than welcome! I am sure this can help others too.

(Sorry for the not-so-good english!)

HEY! Welcome to tpunk!

Just remember to try and keep your chin and your back straight so the muscles don't get abused and do some sit-ups or crunches everyday to strengthen your core!

And if all else fails, take some advil!

Yes. I definitely agree with Jake about streghtening the core. Have you ever tried pilates? That would really help with you. Yoga would be beneficial as well. Just make sure you get started on the pilates right away so you can build up strength before you go. You might look a little silly doing the exercises on your trip, and it won't be as helpful if you don't start a decent amount of time before your trip.

I know a few stretches but it would be kind of hard to describe. Just look for every back stretch you can find on the Internet and do them every night after on your trip. My friend's back was bothering her and I showed her a couple of back stretches and she said it really helped.

Thanks for the replies everyone! I tried some back stretches I found on the internet yesterday. I had to get in a certain position where a gentle strech was felt and stay like this for a couple of seconds, but I never felt a gentle stretch no matter how far I went.. Anyways I'll continue doing them, it can't be bad I guess...

Streches are great, try looking up physical therapy streches for the back online... (Wow.. that was a terrible sentance.. sorry) the other thing you could try if your back is/was already bothering you is Arnica gel ... It is a plant based gel that not only helps soothe muscles, but actually helps them to heal faster... Works great on bruises too! (Take it from a girl who gets whupped up on 3X a week. It's really helped me, and because it's not a narcotic or pill, you aren't going to mess up your system by using it.

I don't know why, but for some reason i thought you were a guy too. I guess I tend to think that anyone with a generic name is a guy, unless the name has a girly touch to it or something... sorry!

cracking the back helps my girlfriend and me, seeing a chiropractor before you go might help.
