Alrighty, so it looks like things are finally falling into place now! What originally going to be only a two week trip has blossomed into 1 full month of touring where-ever the wind blows. Of course I have parents who hate the idea, but I'm 23 and need to get it done before I lose those youth rates! lol. Damn them and their guilt trips. I think they're finally pulling around hee hee.

All I'm awaiting for now is my passport and just confirmation from work that I can take a month off without too much trouble. :D I do still have to nail down exactly where I want to go and I'm starting to get those little butterflies in my stomach! It's not really my first trip, but it's my first big one completely on my own and out of my own country.

I do want to say that this site is absolutely fabulous and I never would have been able to complete this trip without the advice from everyone on this website!! Thank you guys!!!

Jenn

(P.S. Ooooo, 100th post. I didn't think I had an attention span that long!)

Wow, Elfmaiden... I am in the EXACT same position as you. (Ie. going for a month, parents who hate the idea, 23 years old, waiting for work to give me a month off)

Good luck and have fun!

Hey CB that's really neato. Hee hee. Wierd though!

Now I have the fun part of picking where I want to go. One place I hadn't thought of before was the Ukraine (depending on visa's 'n stuff) 'cause that's where my family is from. I really thought at first that going to Paris 'n London would be really rockin' but I can seriously say everyone has opened my eyes to trying the less touristy stops along the way!

I'm going to try book my plane ticket to leave around the 6-8th of August and return around the same time in Sept. I think work will be okay with it 'cause they're all into letting us travel. Maybe if I start writing my packing lists now I won't feel so nervous before I leave (Not!) Now starts the planning, I can't over do it 'cause I promised myself not too much planning (Can be obsessive compulsive when it comes to planning)

SV you rock!

Okay so here's how the situation went down like 2 weeks later.

My airline fare dropped to 530.00 (cdn), a price I simply could not resist and would not feel bad about buying even if it did go lower. (And it has, but only by 9 bucks and the prices are crawling back up now.) I bought the cancellation insurance for the extra few bucks and it's all booked up.

The next day, my passport came in! So looks like I'm all good and Passport Canada did hold true to their 20 day policy, which really surpised me! Even though I used an old application looked like it went through without a hitch.

Now I just have to fight with work. lol. But I'm sure the arguement "I already bought my ticket!" Will come in very handy!!

Okay not to SPAM or anything, but I used www.itravel2000.ca. I've been watching prices on travelocity and them for about 3 months and itravel beat them hands down for the flights to Europe. Although I must admit I'm buying well in advanced of my trip so I guess prices are better like that too. But with the discount fares I'm pretty much screwed if I miss the flights and I can't change dates or anything.

I can't rate them quite yet on service as my plane tickets haven't arrive since it'll take awhile, so we'll see how it turns out!
