far-fetched travel travel list
so my friend and I were talking about our life travel goals, so I thought I would post this topic here to see what everyone's long term travel goals were... maybe not all of them (b/c if ya'll are like me you want to go everywhere anyway), btu whatever you wanna do no matter how far-fetched they are. we did like places & events...(and it includes US destinations... or home country destinations for all you non-US folks ) but here's mine to serve as an example...
(not in any order)..
1. scotland to see the loch ness monster
2. paris for fashion week and to see monet's house
3. moscow to see my fave monet
4. louisville, kentucky for the kentucky derby (mainly so I can wear a ridiculous hat)
5. uganda to see the junior school that I donate to every year
6. kenya or madigascar to go on a safari
7. somewhere (anywhere!) and stay in one of those tree house hotels
8. napa valley, california for wine tasting
9. faroe islands just to be one of the few to go there. and I'd go to iceland since it's on the way
10. germany of oktoberfest
11. krakow, poland and to see the auschwitz-birkenau museum/site
12. thailand to stay in one of those bamboo huts
13. the galapagos to see all the animals and to kayak
14. raft the amazon
15. hawaii to see the place where they filmed jurassic park (LOL)
16. kansas or oklaholma to go tornado chasing
okay I guess that's it for now. these are my semi-far fetched travel ideas.
what do ya'll got?

Wow, I gotta think hard about this to be honest...
Iceland to see the Northern Lights
Go on a boat around the fjords in Norway
Alaska
Safari in Kenya
NYC and see a show on Broadway
Canada (anywhere and everywhere)
Island hopping along the coast of Croatia
Skiing in New Zealand (have been there during the summer, I'd love to see it in the winter)
Easter Island
I can't think of any more, but I know they're in my head somewhere.

-Boat down the Amazon
-Bike across the US
-Catch the aurora somewhere
-Travel to every continent
-Run with the bulls
-Tomatina
-Oktoberfest
-Mardi Gras in New Orleans
-Carnival in Rio
-Seven wonders of the modern world (seen 3)
-New Seven Wonders (seen 1)
-Mt. Rushmore
-Eiffel Tower
-Stonehenge (I'd like to sleep out there!)
-Tower of Pisa
-Easter Island
-Dive the Great Barrier Reef
-Dive the Red Sea
-Uluru
-Float in the Dead Sea
-Drive through a redwood
-Galapagos
-Do the Camino Santiago
etc
etc
etc

Sweet! I have a bunch of not-distant family there. They call us every once in a while.
My list is very long and I'm way too lazy to do it right now, but I'll get around to it eventually...

Yep, although it's a little convoluted. Most of my relatives are near Bergen in Norway but a bunch of them came from the Faroes, and a few still live there. When they moved to Norway they took the name Feroe. Most people with the last name Feroe are related to us somehow.

I would like to check out San Fermin, La Tomatina et al in Spain (unfortunately I won't be in Spain next summer)
Bhutan
Nepal
Mongolia
Easter Island
Svalbard, Norway
Alaska
Egypt

Yes...the moon... I want to setup the Moon's first hostel...yes per our agreement Hwei, you can work it

Hmmm, this could be a very very long list.
- Climb Everest (hey, this is a dream list right?)
- Climb El Cap in Yosemite (again, this is a dream list)
- Nepal
- Ride in the Paris-Dakar rally, not to compete, just to finish
- Compete in the Finke Desert race, Australia
- Go to the Cordillera Huayhuash mountain range in Peru and stand at the foot of Suila Grande
- Establish a first ascent up a mountain...any mountain.
- Oktoberfest, Germany
- Carnival, Rio
- Angkor Wat, Cambodia
- Petra, Jordan
...I could go on and on and on

Well I pretty much want to see the entire world, but here's a few
1. Climb Mt Everest
2. live in a tree house on an island just outside of india (now I just have to find the island...)
3. Go to Easter Island
4. See the pyramids and ancint wonders in Egypt
5. Do a cross-canada road trip
6. Live and work in the amazon (this has been my life-long dream ever since I first found out that rainforests house such a gret percentage of the species of the world)
7. Be stranded in the wild somewhere and survive only on what I can produce from the land, with minimal tools
8. Go scuba diving (should hopefully fix that in SA)
9. Become a surfer bum (def. going to to this when I get to SA)
10. Go sand dune boarding!! (also another for SA/maybe Namibia)
11. Walk the great wall of China
12. See the fairy houses of Goreme
13. Ireland, and it's magic
That's all I can think of right now, but I know theres tons more

As cool as the trans-siberian train would be, I think id prefer not to do that. Theres gotta be so many cool places along the way that youd not get to see if you just pass it on the train. Once (or if) i learn Russian i want to spend a month or so travelling from one end of russia to the other. but im not really sure how feasable that is...or maybe I could get the trans siberian in one direction then spend a few weeks travelling back in the ohter direction.

Hey Lizz. i was in Lviv for just a few days last summer, around mid july. We didnt really get to see much to be honest. We hadnt planned to go there and while we were there we only met one person who could speak english, even the people in the tourist office couldnt understand us! We actually spent 2 days just working out how to leave! first working out how to say where we were going, then finding the train station, only to be told there was no train to warsaw on the day we wanted to go, then spending ages looking for the bus station and finally booking the ticket!
I definitely want to go back though, i felt i didnt get to see enough, and theres so many other cool places to see in the ukraine. i was thinking of maybe going and doing an intensive Russian course over there and then spending a few weeks travelling. knowing the language would definitely make it much easier!

It was kind of cool reading folks' lists and see things I'd done...
So, here's what I would love to do, still:
1. Hike the Inca Trail (scheduled for December)
2. See the Northern Lights (might just have to go up to Canada this winter to try...there's a certain line of lattitude that gives you the best chance. Gotta research that, again, and find a town on it I can go to).
3. Travel the Silk Road (ala Adam, our own ajb3000...)
4. Travel solo across North Africa from Morocco to Egypt, seeing all the Roman ruins, Medieval forts and castles, etc...).
5. Galapagos Islands
6. Patagonia
7. Iceland
8. New Zealand
9. Dubrovnik, Croatia
10. Cyprus
11. Malta
12. Santorini, Greece
13. Cappadocia, Turkey
...I'm sure there's more, that's just off the top of my head!
