This has kinda already been asked but I want to know more, from other female travellers..
I'm cool with not wearing makeup or doing my hair while I'm just walking around sight-seeing and doing whatever..but what about if I want to go out to a nice club or restaurant , where you dress up or at least look good? Do you still bring makeup & hair dryer/flat iron for these occasions or buy them there..? Or would you just go to clubs, etc w/ no makeup and hair in a ponytail?

^ I may not be a chick, but its like being anywhere in the world - you gotta look good, within reason, of course. Most of the girls I knew didn't lug around a huge suitcase - just the same pack as me - but somehow they ended up looking spectacular... although that may have to do with how softly lit European streets automatically conceal all flaws.

I was all natural my entire trip throughout Europe. For africa I brought the big ticket item of....mascara. Extreme, I know. I went to hot clubs in Europe in birks for christ's sake. Wear a cute skirt/outfit and no one cares...Travelers will get it (and if they don't they're dumbasses and are not worth your time). My hair is naturally flat so I don't really have to deal with the whole flat iron thing, but if your hair is wavy, rock it! No need to lug around tons of gear that you ARE eventually going to get sick of and ditch.
And trust me, I did not have trouble attracting men, if that's what you're going for.
That being said, tons of girls aren't quite as used to "roughing it" as I am and brought allllllll that shit. Some girls I roomed with actually split up their bags. One girl carried shoes and accessories while the other carried their clothes and other stuff (although there really wasn't room for much else). For me, I think it would all be way too much of a hassle. Especially something bulky like a flat iron...
So I guess it really depends on what kinds of girl you are. How confident you are with yourself as yourself and what your priorities are.
Hope that helps

Cant go wrong with just a ponytail. There is something attractive anyway about a girl who can forego the long prep time for going out and still have a good time

I took my hair straightener ("flat iron") and a bit of make-up (foundation, mascara and a lip gloss) with me, and to be honest, I don't care if people think that's high-maintenance. My hair is crazy without being straightened, and was too short to stay in a ponytal successfully. And I don't have the greatest skin, so have never gone without makeup in my life.
I'd much rather feel comfortable with how I look, even if it means people think I'm a high-maintenance fool.

Really though it's all about feeling comfortable.
Because guys don't notice anyway.
Honest.

I'm down with taking mascara - it doesn't weigh much or take up much space, but when I can be bothered to put it on it does make me feel pretty! I can't be bothered with other makeup though, even at work, nights out etc - I feel it eats into valuable eating/drinking time - or first thing in the morning - valuable sleeping time.
Although I think I will take my straightener to OZ because I have a wedding to go to and I won't be there long so I doubt they will piss me off that much.

And now we're thinking we should do it, and we can't find it on the internet... is there still a warped tour in Europe, if so do you know the site... or have we missed our boat?
Thanks a million!

no more warped tour outside the US. HOWEVER, the same people have started a tour called taste of chaos that goes international. it's aimed more at the metalcore crowd but maybe you're into that.
