So I'm weel on my way to convincing myself to throw caution to the wind and split in late July for a month or two to Europe... I'm wondering though, since most peope seem to do their trips in June and July, what's the story with travelling in August? Are there still other younger backpackers around then? (I'm 23...) How busy/difficult to find open spots in hostels is it then?
Yargh... I've been trapped in the US for too long...
There are plenty of young backpackers even in the dead of winter, my friend. Don't worry, you won't have trouble finding people to party with. There is no rule that people should backpack Europe in June or July. In France, locals tend flee their homes in the city for their vacations in August (you should know that in advance before heading to the Riviera, LOL) so it can seem like there are *more* travelers in places in August than locals!
