Default Jamaica or Mexico?

Okay, I've been on here posting a million things about my R&R trip June 13th thru June 27th and we've decided no to Hawaii much to my dismay, I said no to the Bahamas and Cancun because I've been to both. I'm taking my mom, 13 year old sister, my 16 year old sister, and my 23 year old cousin. We're kind of hoping to rent a villa/conduminium because of the kitchen factor OR do an all-inclusive resort thing, I don't know, both have it's perks.

We've now been looking at Montego Bay, Jamaica and also Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. I'm personally rooting for Jamaica but seems like Mexico is better in price. I've been looking at places through FunJet doing a packaged deal and I'm seeing that's the cheapest route is to book them together.

Who's been to either place and can give me pros/cons? We don't want some spring break wasted people every place, which was what Cancun was. Which was amazing with my sorority sisters but this time my family is going and only me and my cousin will be partying.

I know the price range of Mexico from Cancun... I've heard not so good things about Cozumel, and Acapulco and Los Cabos look expensive, and I don't know too much about Puerto Vallerta. What about Jamaica, how expensive is it out there for day to day stuff?

Any additional info would be so helpful! Hope everyone who celebrates Christmas has a good one!

I did a Jamaica vacation through Apple Vacations (www.applevacations.com), who are quite affordable. There is more to Jamaica than beach. You can go hiking and other outdoor activities. And the all inclusive set with their "too scared to leave the resort" is definitely an exaggeration. I walked all around Montego Bay, downtown, and never saw anything but friendly, helpful folks.

That said, there's a lot of non-beach stuff to do in Mexico, too. I'm a history buff, so the Aztec (Mexico City area) and Mayan pyramids (Yucatan) score big points for me.

Believe it or not, summer is actually off season for much of that area of the world, so you should be able to find a good package deal...
