okay, so i dont know if im going to tip over cause i haven't actually packed yet, but suspect that I've gone overboard? spending two weeks in sydney, melbourne and brisbane, the weather i hear, is pretty erratic...
did i overpack?:
three pairs of cargo pants
three pairs of jeans (one to go out @ nite, and two daytime jeans)
14-16 tanks/tees/tops (day and nite-am big klutz/prone to accidents)
one denim jacket, 1 lightweight sweater-hoodie
three casual skirts
two pairs of shorts
two bikinis
flip flops
hiking boots (cd i took your advice and bought a pair)
heels

out of your list i would take
1 cargo pants
2 jeans
1 sweater
3 tanks, 3 tee's
1 skirt
2 shorts
2 bikinis
flip flops
hiking boots
heels..(or do what i did and bring some flat black dressy sandals)
anyhoo that's what i'd take if i were you. I still think that even this is alot! don't forget your undies.

OMG Katdawg! I don't even own that many clothes! Hahahah!
Here is a tip: If you can't lift your bag over your head 3-4 times in a row, it means it's too heavy...I also recommed you pack your bag with all you intend to bring, and go take a walk with it, go have coffee, and take a bus ride...Believe me, when you come back, you will know if you overpacked! It's better to know BEFORE you take your plane! It's hard to choose what to leave behind, and I always ask myself: do I need this to survive? Hahah! Good luck girl! :D

Moc, baby, you're a genius, I'm definitely going to try walking around with the pack first. Brilliant, thank you!
And, sigh, I know I am the biggest clothes whore. My poor closet has a terrible case of indigestion. It's incurable, I've been told.

Here is another tip:
I never used a washing machine while overseas...To wash my clothes, I'd just wear them in the shower, wash them with the same soap I used for me and rince it...It may sound weird, but washing pants in a small lavatory isn't easy! It's like a 2in1 washing session! Hhahaah!
My soap was some kind of liquid camping soap, that I could use for dishes, clothes, hair and body, and that works in cold water and salt water (so you can wash in the sea, if no shower available!)...So I didn't have to bring 5 different bottles of soap!

Interesting, I never thought about that...hmmm. Can you post a pic of you in a wet-T to clarify? And how do you dry them then, though? Stand in front of a fan?
I've only been out for 3 weeks longest - so I always just brought enugh drawers and socks to last me w/o washing!
But, to answer the question - I would say you want your pack to weigh 30-35 lbs max! So, definitely cut out all the duplicates like Dio said - or more!

I always carry a rope with me, I hang my clothes on it. Actually, I have a washing machine at home so I don't have any pics of myself in a wet-T. And will ya stop asking for pics?! You're the 5th one this week... Hahaha!
