WELCOME TO THE BOARDS!!!
One way to arrange a work-exchange is to visit a community (think a hippie commune); many offer visitor programs of 1- to 3-weeks where a person can work with the community. Ideally, they want you to work to join and live there but most are find if you want to visit for a bit. Just realize that this is how these people live!! A listing of communities can be found at:
http://www.ic.org More can be found by simply searching your city and the word 'community'.
Another site is
http://www.helpx.net which lists several work-exchange listines.
Another resource is WWOOF (
http://www.wwoof.org) which aims to provide members with an education in organic farming while they perform a work exchange. The site requires you to join in order to access the lists...I highly recommend it though...Im currently WWOOFing through Central America with my boyfriend.
Hope that helps!
