Default Advice for my RTW trip please!

Hey everyone! I haven't posted on here for a while and I just wanted to see if anybody could give me some useful advice relating to my Round the world trip. Let me tell you a little bit about the ticket I just purchased from STA travel.

OK, well I start of by flying from London to Beijing. Then I will try and overland all the way from Beijing to Singapore. I fly from Singapore to Australia where I do a bit of over landing. Then I fly to New Zealand. After this I get a flight to Chile. Then finally I overland from Chile to Brazil.

I'm really looking forward to it! Heading off around July next year. I've done a fair amount of travelling before (Inter Railing etc) but nothing like this. Any advice is welcome!

Any advice on the preparation, the visa process (especially the Chinese visa), necessary spending money for around 8 months, advice on places to see, things to buy in advance.

I really appreciate any help you guys want to give me!

Thanks a lot!

Which airline are you flying nz to chile?
we went on LAN and were impressed with the service and they have a new entertainment system which passes the time!

Let me know if you need any specific info on nz!

Sounds like an awesome trip!

As far as visas go, you may need to apply for a Brazilian tourist visa before you actually arrive in the country. The application process takes around 4 days and costs about $50 (depending on your nationality). I can't remember everything that is required for the visa, but I'm pretty sure you need proof of Yellow Fever vaccination and they take your passport for the duration of the process. I did my application in Santiago, Chile.

Are you going to check out Peru? There are a lot of amazing things to see in that country.

Only thing I would suggest is to look into the visa regulations in all the countries that you might be traveling too during your journey. I don't have a RTW under my belt, but I wish to one day! Happy planning.

Thanks guys. I'm really looking forward to New Zealand actually! Any advice on some of the sites to see would be much appreciated

I would love to visit Peru but I'm not sure I'll be able to. I reckon by the time I reach South America my money will be wearing a bit thin! Also I will be over-landing from Santiago to Rio, might just keep things simple.

Visa's are very confusing have to say! Been looking into them and still not 100 percent on things. Think I will just email the embassies to get some advice. Maybe you guys could help me out?

1. I'm good for South America and New Zealand.
2. Australia is an Electronic visa so that should be simple enough.
3. The China visa is a bit complicated. If I get the tourist visa it will be for 30 days. If I need to stay longer in China, will I be able to get a visa extension out in China? Not sure.
4. As for Cambodia, I think I can get this at the border crossing. Any of you guys have information on this?
5. The Vietnam one I can get however I need to use it pretty quickly after the date of issue. Not really possible, so is it the done thing to just apply for this visa in China at some point. Maybe in Nanning, my last stop before Vietnam.

Pretty long winded Any advice from people who've been there and done it would be great!
