Default I'm planning on studying abroad--need advice!

Hey guys,

So I'm a soph. in college looking into the possibility of traveling abroad to study environmental science. I've narrowed down my choices to Argentina or New Zealand---completely different destinations but I cant seem to make up my mind! What are your experiences with either of these countries??

Hey Jackie,

I live in NZ and travelled to Argentina for 3 weeks earlier this year so might be able to comment a bit.

Well the whole studying abroad in argentina may not work so well if you don't know spanish?

Although depending on where in argentina you wanted to go it is likely to be warmer than NZ.

Costs in NZ are proberly (although i havn't looked so could be wrong) going to be more expensive in terms of the actual costs of studying.

Maybe think of what you want to get out of your study abroad time and then see which country would give you the most of what you want...?

Let me know if you have anymore specific questions!

Hey there. Can't say I've studied in or even visited those two countries. I suppose I'm no help at all

I have however studied abroad before. I went to Bologna, Italy the other year and I have to say, it was an amazing experience. By the end of it I felt as though I had really got to know the Italian culture and made myself a second home. I had so many adventures out there because it was such a spontaneous time of my life. I felt as though I could experience new things every day unlike I do at home. Join the various ERASMUS societies and immerse yourself in the new language and culture, you won't regret it.

Which country has the better university?

If you don't come from a Spanish background, I think studying in Argentina would be an amazing experience. Although, the language barrier would be a serious challenge.

Jackie - if you haven't already - go make an appointment with your study abroad advisor. They can help you find a program that focuses on environmental science and can get you in touch with students who have studied at those programs. Visiting a country and living there, while sharing some similarities, can be very different! Good luck in your study abroad efforts!
