Hey everyone.
I'm starting to think that im trying to cram too much stuff to do in my time frame, not to mention my budget. I have a budget for close to 50 days depending on my fun level. I want to do and see as much as possible. So far ive planned on seeing Ireland, Scotland, Britain, France, Amsterdam, Switzerland, Portugal, Spain, Italy, Greece, Egypt, and Morrocco if possible.
Based on all of your expertises, is this too much to ask for?
Also, I have a short attention span, so I get bored easily. Might be good for moving around alot.
Thanks for your help.

That sounds pretty good if you ask me. You have roughly 5 days in each place if you drop one. I would personally drop Morrocco if it were me. Be wary that Britain/Ireland/Scotland are expensive. Your budget will have to be a lot higher for that area. I would pick out some spots you want to see in each country (IE you picked Amsterdam for Holland) so that you can estimate your expenses and travel times a little better. You can always change but at least you will have some numbers to work from.
I would also be much to your debt if you could please record what you spend each day. I am looking for the following:
Flight Costs (include origin and destination of each one please)
Train Costs (include origin and destination of each one please or if you use a pass give me the pass cost)
Food Costs (per day, more detail is always better please state if its self made or restaurant)
Entertainment Costs (per day, more detail is always better, please state what you did briefly)
Accomodation Costs (per day, more detail is always better, please state: camping, hostel, hotel, etc.)
I am compiling a data base of travel costs so that I can use it to help others estimate the costs for their trips. It's a huge project that needs lots of data your input would be invaluable sine you are going for a fairly long stint.
Thanks and hope this helps!

Its certainly possible to go to all those coountries within that amount of time, though I think I might narrow it down by one or two. Sounds like a great trip though!

I agree with narrowing it down. Remember that there are many places to see in each country. After a couple weeks of two days per city/area, you may find yourself getting pretty exhausted and wanting to slow your pace a bit. Don't try and see everything in one trip.
PS Amsterdam isn't a country FYI

Pedantic as it is, some Welsh and Scots (i'm one of the latter) can get a bit uppity if you think of England as Britain. If it helps:
Great Britain/Britain = Scotland, Wales and England
United Kingdom = Scotland, Wales, England and Northern Ireland
Sounds like a hectic schedule. For Scotland, there is a lot you can do. Edinburgh i'd say was a definite. If you have the time, I love the Orkney Islands but i'm not sure how popular it is with backpackers. Skye and the Highlands may be a bit better and more accessible from the cities.

D'oh. I meant I was Scottish rather than one of the ones that get uppity.

It all depends on the kind of experience you'd like to live with your travelling. So many countries in 50 days is faisable if you plan on seeing, from afar, and in only one city or two; but to get a better sense of the culture, or do more activities (hiking, etc.) you'll find this to be way too many countries. I personnaly like to visit both large cities and villages, meet locals and ask them what to do.
Also, remember it takes time to travel from one place to another. Have you included it in your plan?
My best advice would be to remain available for any change of plans. While on the road, stay spontaneous and flexible, and you'll have the best of time in 11 or 5 countries !

well here you go, I went to 11 countries in 93 days and still didn't see probably a quarter of the things I wanted to. for instance, London, Paris and Rome. I saw each in 4 days of running non stop from sun up till sun down and didn't get to see everything.....and they're only 1 CITY!!! in a whole country!!
I would definitely pare it down. Maybe get rid of Greece(it's a 24 hour trip each way unless you fly), Egypt, way out of the way, and Morocco(same thing).
Here's the thing about travelling, you have to remind yourself that you're gonna be back. You can't possibly see everything in one trip and you just have to plan on coming back to see the things you want to see.
I've been to Italy twice now on 2 different 3 week trips and have not come close to seeing everything I want to see yet. Give yourself a chance to enjoy a few places, and the overall experience will be much better, I promis you.

Even with a short attention span I think you'd probably want to spend more time than you're allowing in each country. I'd second Jason's idea of saving Egypt for another trip: From what people have told me you should really reserve at least two weeks for that place alone if you want to see anything good. It'll save you a couple hundred euros in airfare from Greece anyway.
