$3k should be plenty for 4 weeks, depending on how you eat and drink I tend to eat minimally and drink like a fish, so my costs can range from $30/day to over $100/day.. this doesn't include hostels/trains, but does include food, lots of drink, shopping, various admission fees (museums, etc.) and local transport. You'll also find that prices vary widely. Paris and Amsterdam, for example, are quite expensive, but Barcelona seems dirt cheap in comparison. Either way, you'll have the time of your life. Enjoy!

Yea you can do it on $3000 as long as you think smart, stay in hostels and eat cheap. A buddy and I tripped around Europe for 6 1/2 weeks on less than $1000...but we were on a kayaking trip, so we camped mostly and packed food from grociers and such. Anyhow, you can make just about anything doable if you are willing to be flexible

First of all, try to relax a bit. I could sense the anxiety in that post a mile away! Don't worry, this is going to be the trip of a lifetime and you will definitely be able to find a way to make it work with those funds....I'm planning a 6 week trip to Europe this summer as well....and I'm hoping to get away with it for much less per day than u (there's gunna be a whole lotta roughin it in store for me...oh man ). While it is SOOOOOOOO exciting to plan (I cant believe im so excited 3 months before departure) try not to freak out at all. Its best to make decisions when ure not super worried about the outcome. Everything will work out for the best, just take it all in stride.
