Hi everyone. I have dreamed of traveling to Australia for many years. I haven't went because I couldn't find anyone to go with me. I have just recently figured out there are many single travelers out there, and traveling alone may be the funnest way to go. I will be staying in hostels. My question is, will I be the oldest person
there. I am told that hostels are normally for people who are very young, and although I am young at heart my actual age is 38. So my question is., am I too old to stay in the hostels? :crybaby: I have heard that most people who travel this way are either teenagers or college students.

Age means nothing anymore my friend!!! Age is a state of mind!

You will be prob one of the older trav'las staying in the hostel but I can asure you you will not be the first. Budget travel has no age limit.

When I stayed in Amsterdam there was a 40ish couple staying there, and inBelfast there were 2, 65 or so women in the same dorm room as me!!

I am 28 and still do it, and I will prob be doing it when I am 38 and 48....Being a budget trav'la is a travel style, the same way people stay at resorts or 5 star hotels...its a choice.

Do not let your age stop you, go and do what you wanna do and travel the way you wanna travel!!!

I was thinking the same way as you now are (I'm 31), but decided 'Hey, if I didn't go I would probally regret it when I'm 70 !'

I'm heading to Oz in 4 weeks on my own - from what I have read, approx 70% of 'hostellers' are in the same boat !!

As my thinking about hotels that Hotel Staff don't think about the age of the customers. They always welcomes everyone who wants to stay at hotel. Please keep away this mentality about age. You are probably young dear. Older age is just our state of mind.

just go - the age doesn't matter so much. You will find a lot of backpackers on your way
