Whenever I come home I have tons of little knick knacks that I collected from my trip. patches, beer labels, postcards, plane tickets, pamphlets, coins...I usually collect it all together get a scrapbook and start creating a memory book of my trip. It's not a photo album (that's seperate), but it's those little things that your collect along the way that can make the memories flood back like crazy. I have everything in there. Coins taped to the pages, some rocks collected from the beach, admission tickets. you name it.

I've noticed on my trips that some people like taping this stuff into their journals. i like this idea. so I might do it next year. Get a bigger scrapbook like a sketchbook , take a glue stick and a pair of small scissors (or buy it their if ya can't get thru customs) and create a piece of art along side your journal entries.

I have kept a written journal of all my travels, its a great way to look back on your trip. I taped in ticket stubs, currency, stamps, some photos and little odds' sods into my journal. To me my journal is one of most valuable things, cuase if I ever forget my life, i have it all written down. My journal is basically a written document of what it was like to be me, good times and bad,at home and abroad. Just a way to vent i guess. Some may think its stupid or only chicks do it or whatever, but ya wanna talk about a stress relief...it works! B)

Yeah have a journal at home too. I don't write in it everyday just when I feel the need. Usually when I'm pissed off, depressed or just having a deep moment. I find it really theraputic. It helps me vent. I don;t write about what I did that day rather what I'm feeling etc...WHen I read back I can't believe how fucked up I sound.

That is the truth, its amazing to see the things we felt at the time we wrote them, i am the same, its not an every day thing, just when the moment warrents.

I usually keep one when I´m traveling and I´ll throw in tickets, bar coasters, discotec flyers and promos, receipts, ticket stubs, womens underwears , etc...
It´s cool to look back at it, and yep, talk about the flood of memories coming back! The power of the written word...therapeutic, indeed

well when I travel any where, my momentos are beer mugs, and little men. Like soldiers, armored soldiers, ect.... Basically any type of soldier or warrior that fought for that country.

Like example, if you guys have been to Belgium and ever seen that little momento of the little pissing little kid. stuff like that I find very interesting. Anything with a good history or good story behind it.

I am reading a book at the moment about a woman who sent postcards to herself while she did a round the world trip. When she got home she put this book together and had all those memories to keep. I thought is was a great idea. I know we have email and all that stuff but sometimes nothing can beat a post card. Book is called Without reservations by Alice Steinbach if you are interested. I have just started it but so far it is a great read.

i like to send postcards to myself, but I dont write anything on them... i just like the stamps and seeing the postmark.

I have a scrapbook and a separate photo book. Although I don't use pre made photo albums, they have always seems to bother me. So what I do is go to the store and buy a 1" 3 ring binder and buy the clear plastic sheets, a pack of printer paper, and some tape and I go to town.
My one friend takes a step furter and actually adds quotes to the pictures, or makes little stories. He has definately improved my idea. I'm not creative enough for the stories. My scrapbook is overfilled, plus I have a box of stuff that needs to be added. So I am about 2 years behind on that stuff. But I agree with everyone that it's the greatest memorialbilia.

May sound weird, but when there is a special moment in my life, I just pick up a stone right there. I keep all these special stones in a wooden box...

When I travel, I like to bring back a little bit of earth or sand from where I was, and also seashells...Then I always remember that moment where I was strolling alone on this particular beach, selecting a few shells.

I also have a Journal I have been writing for the past 12 years...It's good to read it soemtimes and just remember what it was to be 12 or 15!!!

I normally just put photos in an album and keep a journal in a small note book when I travel. But I just bought the other day a journal ment for travelers. It has a bunch of pages with travel quotes on them, and in the back it has pages to put photos. I can't wait to write in it on my trip. I only have another 4 and a half months to go!!!

I have my photo albums, and sometimes I'll keep a Journal when I'm traveling...especially if it is a long trip by myself. For the most part, though, I don't do a scrapbook. It does sound cool, though. Maybe, one day I'll start doing that, too.

The thing I always do is my travelogue. It is more of a recounting of the trip, what I did, what my impressions are, my feelings, etc. I e-mail it to my friends when I get back. The travelogues are also all up on my web site, with photos.

Dio, that's cool about the rocks or sand from around the world. I did that the first couple trips, too, but then after a few moves, got tired of lugging the rock collection around and tossed it. Too bad, that'd be neat to look back on when you're old, Dio (like 40!)...

Nah, I'm jabbing at Dio. It's kind of running joke (probably funny only to me), that every time I mention being 40, I have to mention that it is "old" to Dio. I think it is from a comment she made in a post months ago, but you know, memory is the first thing to go... :D

Good plan, Mocsy, to stop aging. I've taken a similar approach: I just won't look, feel or act the age I am! Plus, I'm going to live forever!

Hmm, doesn't that mean it came out right then? I love it when adults are like kids - uncensored! :D

But, c'mon, no need to patronize us old farts tho - plenty of distinguishing women can appreciate and know how to treat real men like us right! I mean, I'm bigger, better, better-looking, richer, smarter, wiser, funnier, more skilled, more experienced, more travelled, more interesting, etc than I was at 20 - so what girl wouldn't prefer me more now? Looking back, I was a clueless idiot at 20! Plus, some of us age well too! :D

Anyways, I made a website with half my photos. Pics are my main "souvenirs." I try not to accumulate too many knick-knacks that will take up shelf space. I like my space uncluttered like my life. I keep some stubs and stuff in with photos in albums, but no patience for scrapbooks...
