Well i thought i had a real solid travel plan of going to Thailand until the 6th of July then Cambodia for 4 days to see Angkor Wat, then Burma for 4 days to see the Temples of Bagan. However, i've just noticed that the running of the bulls is on during that time and a mate of mine is going to it. So, the question is - do i keep to my original plan of Cambodia and Burma or do i go party in spain for the running of the bulls?? I was thinking i'd go to the running of the bulls with my mate because Angkor Wat and the Temples of Bagan will always be there, however, the running of the bulls will always be there too. What do you guys reckon??

The running of the bulls is only what 9 days, then what do you guys got planned ? Best case is go to the bulls and then book it on over to S.E.A for the rest of that shit, that could get pricey though......tough call cause I wanna run wit the bulls as well, my advise is if your mate is only going for the bulls and then home head over to S.E.A. the only thing I would reccomend is that Myanmar (Burma) is a seriously under-developed country when it comes to tourism, your looking at major language barrier, no decent transportation system and whatever system they have is totaly unreliable, and pretty much everything there is ruled with an iron fist. I reccoomend more then 4 days to see the temples, cause it might take you a couple days to get there, just give yourself some breathing room in Myanmar becuase nothing there is certain or concreate, cool place to go was gonna hit it but fate got in the way.
will

The problem is, once i leave Asia there aint no going back, well not on this trip anyway, because i'll be using an around the world plane ticket so i've gotta keep going in the one direction. I think i will go to the running of the bulls for the very reasons you listed about Burma, since its not the most user friendly country it would probably be better to go to once i have a bit more travelling experience under my belt, because this is my virgin backpacking trip.

That IS a dilema, LFB!

Well, I would try to do both. Maybe cut out one of the three spots you were going to stop in SE Asia. That should give you enough time to slip in and catch the bulls in Pamplona. I mean, a few days of the wild atmosphere there will give you the experience, I think. I wouldn't think you'd have to be there for all 9 days of the bulls. And with your one direction ticket, I'd hate to scrap ALL of SE Asia. So, can you arrange it to hit at least one or two of the places you wanted to see in SE Asia, and still make it to the Bulls?

I'll still go and see Ayuthaya, but i don't know about the other 2 places. i get to SE Asia on the 2nd and my sisters wedding is on the 5th, then running of the bulls starts on the 7th and goes till the 14th (i think that's right???). I really don't wanna scrap SE Asia, but i also really don't wanna miss the running of the bulls. I guess if i went to Burma or Cambodia on the 6th for 3 days i could still get to Spain by the 10th and catch the last 4 days of the bulls. Is this asking a bit too much?? Which country would be better for a first time traveller - Burma or Cambodia?? Is 3 days enough to see what i wanna see??

Thanks for any help.

Three days is enough to get a really good impression of either Bagan or Angkor Wat. However, I think you'll find the air transport easier (and more conveniently timed) to Siem Reap for Angkor Wat than you will for Bagan. I ended up having to spend a day in Yangon each way on my way to and from Bagan. While with Siem Reap, I arrived in the morning and had a full day of sightseeing. The day I left I took the last flight out to Bangkok and similarly had pretty much a full day of sightseeing, as well.

So, I say go for it! See Ayuthaya while in Thailand. Arrange beforehand for a 3-day package with a Bangkok travel agent for Angkor Wat. That's what I did...just make sure they let you pick your flights so you can come in on the first one on the day you arive and out on the last one the day you leave. I just did a search on the internet under Bangkok Travel Agency and started pricing different ones.

As for getting to Pamplona, plenty of other Tpunkers have been there, so they can give you an idea of how much time to allot for that.

Good luck!
