Ok, I'm guessing this topic will mainly attract girls but any guys who have some advice I would greatly appreciate it.
I have long hair which is naturally curly, but I usually blow-dry it straight. It normally takes me 30-45 mins to blow dry my hair. It will stay straight for about 4-5 days.
Here's the thing I am back packing for 3 1/2 weeks and staying in hostels. Will I have the time or the facilities to blowdry my hair? Should I buy a hair dryer that will work in Europe or should I just say forget it and stay curly for my trip.
FOR ANY GUYS READING THIS, DO GUYS PREFER STRAIGHT HAIR TO CURLY HAIR?? THAT HAS BEEN THE WAY I HAVE FELT LATELY!!

I think most guys don't have a preference for either, it just depends on what looks good on the individual girl.
As for blowdrying - You'll have early morning trains/buses to catch or will be excited to get out and see the sights. You won't wanna be doing that in the morning. I think that there is powerpoints for them but don't forget you'll need an adaptor. The weight and bulk of carrying one is going to be a real bitch.
Finally and most importantly - when you're travelling you dont know anyone. You don't have an image to maintain. You can look like you want and you won't ever see these people again. That's liberating!

I used to have long hair and carried a multi-voltage hair dryer with me when traveling... It didn't take up too much space, it was light, and only cost me about £10 in London... but even if I grow my hair back out, I probably won't bother.
I want to squeeze out every minute of my traveling time NOT doing unnecessary stuff. Those 30-45 minutes in the morning can be spent in the breakfast room @ a hostel making new friends to go out with for the day. They're the 30-45 extra minutes you get to spend at a museum, or taking your lunch at a more leisurely pace on the riverbank or a sidewalk cafe. It's a couple more beers. I'm not one to count out the minutes of the day or anything, but if I'm traveling, I want to economize my menial time so I can have just a bit more of that hard-earned leisure time.

Personally I wouldn't bother with a blow dryer-- like everyone else has said, it'll cut into a lot of your sight seeing time! And curly is fantastic, mine is totally straight. For years I had long hair that I really didn't have to do anything with-- I barely needed to brush it because of the texture. Now that it's shorter, I still don't really do anything with it or use any products in it-- I pull it back in a ponytail (ELASTIC BANDS WILL BE YOUR FRIEND WHILE TRAVELING) or put some sparkly barrettes in it. I usually blow dry my bangs for about 30 seconds just so they don't dry in some weird pattern, because I'm not very mindful of my hair.

Normally, I would say straight or wavy. But it depends. Best way is to post 2 pics for comparison and let us pick.

Yeah...post pics...let the T-Punker's vote on it. (It can be like our own little TP Idol...let the viewers decide!!).
In general I like straighter or maybe wavy to outright curly....and definately longer rather than shorter. However....that is a generalization and it depends in large part on the girl.

Yea, I think it depends on the person...I don't think I have a preference one way or the other...

I permed my normally dead straight hair before going to Europe for three months - just combed it in the morning and went out to see the world. Also, if you don't get to a shower first thing in the morning, curly is a lot more forgiving than straight! BUT, I did run out of conditioner part way through the trip, and spent several days unable to run a comb all the way through to the ends!

I have curly/wavy hair too and sometimes blow dry it straight. Whenever I travel I always bring my curling iron and blow dryer because I just *know* I'm gonna want to do my hair. I think I've done my hair when traveling once - maybe.
They do have mini blow dryers and curling irons if you decide you have to bring stuff.
My hair is long right now and I'm gonna let it grow until June, but a few days before we leave I'm cutting it. It takes too long to wash/dry/brush...
Though some guys may have preferences I really don't think it's a big deal what your hair is like.

I have curly hair and whenever I straighten it as soon as I walk outside it's curly again, especially when I am by the coast, so I don't see the point anymore. You may even want to consider cutting it short, It will be so much more convenient, you'll spend less on shampoo and conditioner, and if you prefer it long it will grow back. then you can throw some mousse in it in the morning and be on your way.
