hello all another question from me!
Now what city should i go to in Italy. so far im going to be in Amsterdam, then one or two more cities in the Netherlands, to visit family and what not. then onto france. Paris of course. then onto Italy, should i visit Rome, Sicily, Venice, Milan. I was headed towards Sicily or Rome or Venice ok all but milan. do u think i could do all?
and oh my goodness im looking at a map at http://www.lonelyplanet.com/destinations/loc-eur.htm and seeing the countries which are beside each other should we just go from one to the next? like start Netherlands, than France, then Italy, then (austria or switzerland????) then czech then germany and back to netherlands to fly back. ALL IN one month.. now tell me people is this possible????? and if so. which eurorail pass should we get and where!!! i dont really like buying things over the net.
we would like to spend most of our time in france, italy, then czech and netherlands, then the 'crossing over countries' as i like to call them (just joking i just made that up now!) oh yes and IF any of you almighty travellers i am so jealous of already have MSN dare to add me!! HAHA no really megz3oc@hotmail.com add me haha

ok thanks I LOVE EACH ANSWER!!!!! and i LOVE U ALL!!!!!

I can answer one of your questions! If you don't like buying online go to STA Travel(or another one...STA is my favorite though) and buy it there!

All of the Italian cities of cool stuff, but I personal like the smaller cities/towns...Perugia, Sienna, Assisi, Tivoli, etc. You'll see a lot more in a shorter time with places like those. I wouldn't try to do too many countries in a month.

Sicily takes at least five days to see. I'd suggest Taormina, Catania, Syracuse and Palmero. Catania is a good hub to take day trips to Syracuse and Taormina. The hostel there (Agora) is very nice but extremely loud. There's a market place just outside of the hostel, so you can load up with all of your food requirements for the day for extremely cheap. Taormina is an amazing looking town. Look up a few pictures and you can see how breathtaking it is. I never made it up to Palmero, but I hear its supposed to be really neat. They're supposed to have one of the largest markets in Europe. It's a bit out of the way. From Rome, its about an 8hr train ride, but well worth it if you can spare the time.

Here's my take on Italy:
* Venice is the most beautiful city in the world.
* Sorrento is a great place to stay because of all the cool stuff around it (Pompeii/Herculaneaum; the Amalfi Coast; the Greek temples at Paestum; ferries to some of the islands, and so on).
* Rome has so much to see, with the Colosseum, Forum Romanum, Vatican, etc.
* southern Italy is much slower paced and well worth it...much more laid back and gorgeous countryside.

quick advice. When in the Czech Republic you must see Cesky Krumlov for a day or two. It is three hours south of Prague by bus.
