I am looking for a good place to buy Absinthe (the real shit). I will be going to Amsterdam, Brussels, Berlin, Munich, Florence, Rome, and Paris. Which of these (if any) will have good absinthe? Price is not an issue. I wanna get some back to the states (and yes I know the risk of losing it at customs). Anybody got any ideas here?

Thanks!

Best stuff I've come across is Le Fee' Absinth from France. You'll recognize it because its got a Big Eye on the bottle. You can also get it from www.absintheonline.com

I've had something called Pernod from Spain, which doesn't run towards my taste, but you might like it.

Cheers.

You can bring back 2 bottles... and don't bother with the stuff they sell at the airport duty free (80 proof green aperitif). You can buy real absinthe (over 120 proof) in most of Europe, but check the bottle to make sure it's the real deal. Supposedly, you get the best stuff in Czech Rep, France, and Spain... The stuff in Amsterdam is probably the weaker tourist stuff. A big hint that it's not the "real" absinthe would be if it's red. Bartenders sell this sugarwater to tourists all the time and watch them *act* drunk...
