Borrow his pack NOW, fill it with all your stuff, then go catch the train and walk around the city for an hour. You'll then know if its right for you. If its not comfortable enough at least you still have time to find another pack.

I love my Jansport pack (it's a "Rockies" model), but lord knows what model your friend has and what features it's sporting. What I don't like about my pack is that it's top-load only (no side access to the main compartment) and it doesn't have the detachable daypack, which is one helluva great gimmick.

I have an Eagle Creek pack. It did not have the detachable etiher. But what I can I ask when its $85 out the door. I have loaded it with books for weight and it is very comfortable. I also bought their sepereate day pack which is basically a small backpak that condenses into a smaller stuff sack (included). It was about $30. They both have a lifetime warranty and the big pack has a "door" kinda like a rolling suitcase.

Big pack:

Day Pack:

Use Froogle.com to find the best price on whatever you chose to buy.

Hope this helps!

thanx for the help..

i got the bag, no daypack but i have a decent size camelpak i can fit on the back. It seems to be big enough and pretty comfortable.

i fit 3 pairs of pants in it, 1 of them jeans, 3 longsleave shirts, 5 tshirts, 8 pairs of sox, 8 pairs of boxers, a sweater, and an anorak with some room to spare. That should be enough room right???
