ok, so im not a complete n00b at travelling, but i AM at backpacking ( unless you count the week i spent in melbourne dancing but living at a bckpackers?! lol)



im planning the big OE next year.....please comment if it sounds possible etc.

work in the UK (march-september) then its getting cold...head south

start b/p... india,nepal,china,thailand,burma,vietman. 3 months all up ( nov,dec,jan)

mexico....all the way down to argentina, another 3 months (feb,marc,april)

back to the UK to work,another 6 months.

back to australia.normal life




doea this sound possible? could a girl, rough it out for 6 months ok? i dont know a hell of alot about thses places as yet, still lookinginto it all.....but wanting some feedback.

im not gonna ask if its safe, cos nowhere is safe. but i am gonna ask ROUGHLY how expensive is south american countries...are they on par with asia?

damn this website....i was quite happy just going to the UK till i came on here...now i wanna do everything!! lol alll good

Cost is not an issue in China - as everything is DIRT cheap. I've been there 3X and you can check my site for photos. Also have a few from Cancun, Mexico in there too. Mexico is mostly a few large cities and tourist towns separated by miles and miles of desolate desertland. I think most of Mexico all lives in Mexico City in fact - which may be the largest city in the world (depending on how you measure it). Stuff is all pretty cheap there too.

And I'm sure Joan would tell you the same about Thailand. Don't know much about the rest... I have a friend who's been to India, but don't know much more about it.

Sounds like a great plan - although I'd probably reverse the Mexico-South America thing so you go from the southern tip on up, keeping up with the warm weather...
