I hope you will all excuse me for having 'No Cred' and tunneling into your lives whiskers first but;

Since my last trip to Europe i have developed an appetite for Urban Exploration, I realize the vicarious nature of this as a hobby as it is generally frowned upon by authorities at least here in Canada, BUT, Should there be an advocate among us that could direct me to some sites specifically abandoned, dis-used or industrial or share some experiences in the Netherlands. I have researched the usual sites and am experiencing location starvation...Oh,,,my intent is far from ill willed,,,I just like to take photos of urban decay and appreciate cool, dark places...I'm also going to be in France but i think i have that covered.

Thanks in advance...And if you guys are like "What??" then please forget i exist...

Yours always,
Regent Rat

what about squats? they are not abandoned, but I think they fit pretty good in this picture of urban decay. Not to mention cool, dark places. There is a site dedicated to squats in Europe but I don't know the exact address. Something like europesquats.com or .org

Or just visit a war torn east european country-abandoned, dark, industrial, full of war memories

try checking out the river road that stretches from baton rouge to new orleans, louisiana. ok, it's not urban by any means but there are some excellent examples of the decaying ruins of a once-lively past. many of the plantation homes which were once bustling with human interaction are now abandoned and rotting and such beautiful examples of life in general. i have an awesome book called vestiges of grandeur that explores the area and has lots of great pictures but i can't think of the author's name right now.

Thanks Dude,
I've been to those a-dam sites and although seemingly compreshensive they are lacking in location specific information, there are some obvious places which i'm gonna check out, thanks man, i appreciate.

BTW, your from T-Dot have you been to the abandoned bloor station? or the top of the malt plant (stellar).

best regards,

Regent Rat

(good bluegrass show at the Silver Dollar on Wednesdays starts at 10:00pm) I got the first round, i'm the rat with the mohawk wearing plaid.

I live just outside the T-Dot, but I work in the city, and the abandoned subway you speak of I visit on a regular basis we call it Bay Lower, I work for the TTC and we do training down there Its pretty cool If you walk to the end of the Bloor Platform you can actually see down to Bay Lower..there is also an incomplete station at Queen station.

Woah! Respect Dude,

I need to ask you then, there is a fabled area that i have periodically looked for. I have walked alot of tracks and never found it but apparently there is a station that has an overhead equipment room that spans from one station to the other. Is this true. If so where is it and are you opposed to telling me how to get in if not take me there for some photos? I would owe you some serious beers;

If not thats cool too. Oh and uh, even though i'm from Regent Park, GTA is GTA (even the west end heh)..

Excellent to make your acquaintance. Forgive me for changing the subject for a side note but if you found the place to get that Ireland Olympic team hat turns out i'll be around October 18 or so. I could be the rat that gets your hat.

I Remain
Yours,

Regent Rat

CD you gotta take me to those abandoned Stations, I've always really wanted to see them. Didn't they film the Matrix there?

Also where on the TTC do you work? I keep expecting to run into you one day as I get to and from school (now that i'm on crutches and can't walk)

Sorry guys this is my bread and butter, and unautherized visits are very very frowned upon ( As in I would loose my job).
Securtiy is top priority at my work, and everyone has been on edge since the Spain bombings, so the best I could do would be to take pics for you and post them to show you some of the cool areas, I will be down that way in Nov.

Oh ya bro, if you come across that Irish Olympic Visor when your there, I am all over it, still have not had any luck finding one...I will pay you for your trouble of course, and you will have my full respect!!!!

Hey man, I know you were looking for places in Europe, but the land of Urban Decay is Detroit. We have a whole slew of places you could get yourself lost in.

I will post a few links, just to give a sample.

Ruins of Detroit This is a great site for many buildings. Some don't exist anymore, and some are being renovated. But the Train station is still a popular place, and the old Detroit Industrial Center looks somewhat interesting.
