First off, Welcome!

Second - could you be more specific about where in Europe? It's a pretty big place...

I might be in Paris and/or London the first week of January, if this New Year's thing becomes a tradition. Let us all pray to the airfare gods.

I am landing in London January 10.

From there I haven't decided where to yet, any suggestions?
Are you still going to be there?

We will either be in Paris or London for New Years, any suggestions on where to stay and what to do?

Honey - I'll almost definitely have to be back before the 10th.

JDF - Depends what you're into. If you're into the big club/party scene, make sure you scope out where you want to go and buy advance tickets for their NYE parties. Otherwise, there's just about no chance of getting in anywhere. But the real fun is on the streets, I'd say. I haven't done NYE in London, but I've heard many accounts of it.

As for Paris, there's always the Eiffel Tower or Champs Elysées, although they get extremely crowded - and the Tower is too far from any party after midnight. Last year, we opted for the Place de la Concord, at the east end of Champs Elysées, where the crowd was just as nutty, you could see the fireworks, and you had easy walking access to the bars and parties going on around the center of town, St. Michel, and the Bastille.

too bad you won't be there.

Where do recommend staying(hostel) in London? and Amsterdam?

Do you think I will have lots of problems traveling alone,
being a single Honey?(from creepy men, theives etc)

Any cool hangouts in London for single people(Earls court)?

You won't have to worry about creepy men since I won't be there Nah, you shouldn't have any problems - just keep your wits about you, as you would have to anywhere else.

As for hostels, I always recommend the Astor Hyde Park in London. In Amsterdam, I've stayed at the Flying Pig Downtown, which stays true to its reputation as a party place. The bathrooms aren't atrocious if you stay in a smaller (i.e. 6 person) room. The only thing I didn't like about the place is that it's just about ALL Americans and Canadians staying there, so you don't get much international flavor. That and it's full of people who're too stoned to ever leave the place.

In terms of meeting people in London, besides the hostel, my favorite pub is the French House in Soho. It's so tiny, you're practially forced to talk to everyone around you. No mobile phones or attitudes allowed. It's a young, cruisy scene at the Gardening Club at the Rock Garden Restaurant (Covent Garden) - Tuesday nights are 1.50 drinks! Also tons of nightlife and cool people to meet in the Camden and Shoreditch areas. Earls Court is nice, but I don't know of much going on there offhand.
