hey all, i'm a 22 yo girl from indonesia. i'm planning to visit my buddy in nuremberg, germany sometime next year. since i've never travel anywhere alone, i'm quite nervous about it, but i wanna use every minute there to explore the country .

i'm also planning to travel to neighbouring countries. i was thinking belgium or italy or netherland or france or spain. any suggestion? and may i remind you that i only speak english and have very minimum budget. not to mention i'm gonna travel alone (uuuhh.. scaryy.. ), so every single information would be veeeery helpful for me. any suggestion on everything (places to stay, places to go, what i should be prepared of, etc) is welcome.

thanks a lot guys!

welcome to the boards! your plans sound great. it all depends on how much time you have and if you're a whirlwind sort of person (multiple countries with only a few cities in each) or a person who likes to get a really good feel for one country. in terms of the countries you mentioned, spain in general is normally the cheapest, with the exception of barcelona. I just came back from 2 months in only Spain and Portugal and had an amazing time. Spain is a wonderful country, but so are the others you mentioned! So it just depends on what you're into and your logistics. Don't worry about only speaking English; many if not most people you will encounter will speak at least a little bit so you'll be fine. Let us know if you have more specific questions!!!!

Love,
Lauren

OK I just found this post....SO even though it is late Welcome to the Boards!!

Germany is a great country to visit. My main suggestion though is do not limit your self only to the big cities...Germany best gift to travelers can really be found in the country sides; in the small villages not on most maps. If you are up for it, pull out the pack and some good walking shoes and hit the path. You will find some of the nicest people and most beautiful areas in the country sides of Germany.

If you really want to just hit the big cities you have to add Munich to that list. It is a must see while in Germany.
