Thumbs up

I talked to a friend and she said germany isn't worth visiting. I can't imagine a country that isn't worth going to.

What cities and sights have you guy's seen in Germany, and were they worth it?

Germany is not worth visiting? Lol, I question your friends reasoning. THus far I've only seen Southern Germany as I am currently looping through Eastern Europe before i hit norther Germany. Two places I'd highly reccomend are HGeidelberg and Munich. Heidelberg has an awsome old caste sitting high up over the river. If you like castles it is a must. Heidelberg is a 2 day stop where as Munich is 4. Munich has the beer halls and bavarian flavor. It is how I always pictured the Germans to be before comming to Europe. Should you stop in Munich make sure to check out the touristy but local visitied Haufbrauhaus. With brass band and germans swaying their liters in song one cannot but help think "niiiiceee." When In Munich I never got to take the romantic road trip try to check it out. It takes you through various small German castle towns and I am banging my head against the wall for not going .....Basically Germany is definently worth going to and to your friends suggestion that it is not?

I'm going to 2nd what craig said. Germany, espeically the Bravaria area, is deffenatly worth seeing!

I've also been to Berlin, which I highly reccomend visiting. Although many backpackers dislike the large cities if you're in the area I wouldn't miss out.

Oh My God!!! Germany not worth visiting!!!! Shame on your friend psypher :greenguy: hehehe...

Guess it depends on what you like to see but for me Germany was my favourite place. Berlin is an absolute must, without a doubt the best place i visited on my trip, so much history. Munich is also a must see - gotta love Hoffbrauhaus. Go check out Fussen while you're in Munich.

Cologne has a big-arse cathedral...and by big-arse I mean BIG-ARSE!!! Climb the 600 or so stairs to the top spire for a great view over Cologne and the Rhine. From Cologne its easy to get to Bonn and Dusseldorf for a look around.

Also I found Stuttgart to be a really nice city...not too much there other than the Merc-benz and Porsche museums but I really liked the atmosphere of the city.

So yeah, Germany has heaps to offer. If I ever get back over to Europe I plan to spend a lot more time in Germany and see the rest of the country.
