Hey anyone who will listen. I was as the allman brothers sing, "born a ramblin man" I have no friends, no family, and hardly any possessions. I am a 22 yo male who Is sick of having nothing, so I have decided to go see whats really out there. I have a few hundred dollars but I cant get a passport because I have a misdemeanor warrent for hitchhiking a few years back and I never went to court. what should I do? I live in california and have been to everystate, always alone. and I love the open road. provided I get a pass into another country, where should I go first? no money, no contacts, no friends. does that equal failure in my case? I would love some company on a totally spontaneous crazy inter-continental trip. what now? thanks for reading my post.

I think your first step to International travel and getting a happy face beside you passport photo would be a pardon on that warrent. Seeing as you have no money, use the internet and local Library resorces to help you out. Some lawers will work on a Pro-Bono basis, meaning they will work for you for free, so that something else you might wanna try. I do not know how the American legal system works, but that might be a place to start!
And you really do not have NO ONE, you gots us my friend...
( ANY LAWYERS IN DA HOUSE???)

thanks for the kind words and advice. I have actually thought of just turning myself in, but the thought of jail time makes me cringe. I am a free bird tryin to keep away from the man. however I might just try to sneak out of the country through mexico or maybe canada, I dunno..

you know, a wide variety, what do i do first? do i really need to plan ahead? will i get arrested for sleeping on a sidewalk? can i get work somewhere? what if i dont want to comeback? I mean im homeless now in the u.s.
i use the public library computers. I just want to find some friends thats all i really want. can i survive with no money overseas. i know people do it but they have connections, i dont even have a mother.

Hi tektonik, welcome to the boards. First of all, to see all the cities on your list you're looking at probably several trips, and yes, you would need to plan ahead--far, far ahead. The plain and simple fact is that traveling requires money, no two ways about it. Most people on this site have figured out what their priorities are and then buckle down and start saving. It's not magic that has enabled us to travel, and it certainly hasn't been hand-outs from other people. Unfortunately, the self-pitying / world-owes-you-a-living attitude aren't going to get you anywhere except further down the spiral; it certainly is NOT going to get you anywhere positive. If you really want to travel, if it's a serious dream of yours, buck up and do whatever you need to get there-- including getting your warrant/s out of the way and taking whatever kind of work you can get, hopefully with a better attitude. Negativity won't get you anywhere.
Good luck.

those last couple responses were a little harsh. i don't think tektonik69 was trying to freeload or make anyone pity him- he was just asking for friendly advice. what's with all of the judgment? just seems kinda uncalled for.

hey janibble-- yeah, probably those responses do seem a little harsh. But this isn't tektonik's only post in that vein, so as far as my *own* responses to him I was taking his other posts on the board into consideration.
