It's not so much my first time travelling as my first time travelling by myself, with no clear plan of what I'm doing, omg*insertpanicherekthnx*. If that makes any sense. :D

I'm 19, from England, just quit my job [though that's been led up to since I started working there >_<], and booked my one-way to Venice. I can't decide whether to get an Inter-rail pass or not: buying the pass would give me some structure in travelling [currently I have none at ALL] but I'm not sure how confident I am in battling train systems, considering how bad they suck at home.

The vague plan [why am I telling you this? So you can give me some suggestions, I guess] is to wander down through Italy, to Greece, and maybe see if there's come work for the rest of the season. If that doesn't pan out, I'd probably come back up through Italy, then through France and home.
I have like, no money other than what I'll be paid at the end of this month, which isn't much to write home about [£500, or nearish $900], but money doesn't concern me. These things have a habit of working out.

So, bascialyl... I'm freaking out here, and I have a month to get my head together. *breathes into a paper bag* Anyone got any ideas? Or Valium?

Thats wicked, and the way I love to go...venture into the unknown!!!

Personally I think your more prepared than you think, your partial plan, and the realisation of your funds tell me that. It seems ya just need to get over the initial shock that you will be trek'n on your own...

Solo travel is never really solo travel, not unless your a crabby bugger
You meet people along the way, who you'll hang out with, trek with, sleep in the same room with, see the sights with etc...

Your pick on destinations look good, and your ability to adjust, is even better...
But just remeber, if you end up heading off what you have p[lanned...no drama, just soak it up and enjoy the ride!!!!

Don't worry you will be fine!!!! Like CD said you sound more ready than you think!!!!
You just need to get over going alone but reamember you are never alone!!!! there are always other travelers and even tpunkers just around the corner
So just take care and have fun!!! think of the stories you will have to tell when you do get home!!!!

Solo is THE way to go. I've found that I meet far more people and get to do pretty much whatever I want when I go alone. Like CD said, you've definitely got the basics down. Now head over to the "Ice Breakers" thread and bone up on ways to meet your fellow travelers and you're gonna wish the trip never ends!

Heee! *sends massive travelly-style hugs out* Thanks guys, you rock. I've give my brain a stern talking to *g* and there's going to be no more panic.

I think you're right - 'unprepared' does seem to be the way to go. Four weeks to go! Squee! :D
