OK, i would not call myself a "pot head" but I rarley go more than 2 days without smoking at least once, so call that what you will. Perhaps a "selective pothead." Anyway, any tips or advice for finding some and/or people to smoke with when on the raod. Honestly I don't see it as being a big problem, I kind of think that a fair persentage of the back packer culture "indulges." just curious.....The prospect of being stoned as I wonder through some castle in Souther Germany is just to good

hey pothead, you're going to LOVE southern germany - it is really beautiful!
and i don't think you'll have any problem finding smoke buddies - at all!
i tell you what, for any regular pot smokers out there: having pot on your european vacation is so cool!
it just feels fun and sneaky and sweet and rad and yeah! to have weed on the road...
i guess cause it feels like you shouldn't.

Check here for a forum on pot throughout europe. I dont think theres too many like it, but it gives you a bit of an idea that there is many others out there like yourself who love to travel and have a little toke on the good weed.

its so very easy to find pot in europe, especially prague, alot of hash in paris, but really good stuff in prague and you can smoke in the bars.

I was suprized to find out that pot is legal in Switzerland.

I was in a park eating lunch when I smelled pot, sweet fresh pot. I turned to find the cause and there were two teens smoking a blunt. My jaw dropped as a cop walked by and did nothing. My tour guide informed us it was legal here.

Two of the girls on my trip, roughly 17 yrs old, brought some pot later that day and took it with us as we went into Germany. Glad we didn't get caught at the border. It must be easy to find lol.

I do not smoke and I am very opposed to it but if you feel it's important to keep you alive then I can't stop you.

Ever think of traveling to Asia? Nepal, India, Thailand, or the Philippines or maybe nearer to Europe try sothern Morrocco along the coast north of Agadir, the first place my girlfriend and I headed after arriving in Frankfurt? From 20 cents to U$1 / gram for small amounts and even less if you want to hang out long enough to finish a BIG BAG full of either hashish or grass.

But in regards to traveling with smoke across borders; FORGET IT, if you love to travel and do NOT need a CRIMINAL RECORD buy it smoke it and flush it before moving on to your next country. Also in some places, around some people it might be a good habit to try eating it instead of smoking it less noticeable even though the time released effect is NOT the same.

I was AMAZED when I finally got a general physical done with blood tests, x-rays and urine tests etc when I was 41, the FIRST time I'd seen a doctor since leaving home at 18. NO weird spots or lesions or risky conditions on the MOST abused organs of my body, the LIVER and the LUNGS; I AM STILL AMAZED how HEALTHY I was declared by the results from that Physical Examination considering all the years of almost nonstop partying I have done , especially the first 10 to 15 years after high school.

I have NEVER had health insurance since leaving my parents and prefer to keep an emergency health fund available to getting ripped off by one of the worst "mafias" in American society for U$4000 to U$5000 each and EVERY year. One of the reasons we've been able to prosper is because of abstaining from such expenses considered "NORMAL" and a necessity by 90% of our society.

Moderation is part of the key or another way of translating it in my case is taking time BETWEEN living life in the EXTREME giving your body and mind enough time to heal before GOING FOR IT all over again.

I was wondering whether my previous posts could be edited because after I posted the above details I got PARANOID considering the present "homeland security" agency' policies and the general right wing conservative SCARY POWER the present Bush administration is yielding. The way the USA is hassling Canada about maintaining views contrary to the USA foreign policies and about Marijuana laws is SHAMELESS! THANK GOD FOR CANADA a neighbor with MORALS and DIGNITY.

Outside of Amsterdam, or The Netherlands in general, hash is a lot easier to find and a lot cheaper and usually does the same trick.

Is there a list of countrys that pot is legal, or at least not a crime? (Western Europe)

Say I was in Berlin, how would I go about getting setup? Do I just go to a club or ask fellow backpackers?

Here is the sketchy situation with pot and hash in Europe. It is not technically legal anywhere, even The Netherlands. In The Netherlands it is tolerated as long as you have no more than five grams on you, which is plenty. Don't worry, you are not going to get arrested there for smoking though, so it is as legal as it can be without actually being legal.

In other countries, it depends on where you go. I know someone from Berlin, so we were at bars where smoking pot was tolerated. You can also buy it as these bars. BUT, not every bar tolerated you lighting up a joint so you need to be careful. From what I have heard, it sounds like Pot is becoming tolerated in Berlin. In Spain it was the same case, you can light up in bars and on the street, but you need to be careful about where you do it. Just ask around where you should go.

I think this stuff is also tolerated in Switzerland. They don't have coffeeshops like The Netherlands, but I saw several people just walking down the street in Zurich smoking joints, so you should be pretty safe there.
