Soooooo, I first came here while searching for study abroad info... and now found out that if I get into the program I want (year in florence, island program but compatible with school ) I will have two 10 day breaks and a month long break for the holidays! So far I know that I want to see Paris, and I want to really explore the UK, any suggestions? Pretend money wasn't an object (this is a fantasy, I haven't even applied yet)

We would be taking 2 or 3 day trips to Rome and either Venice or Milan each semester.

Firenza, bella! Italia e la piu bella del mondo!!!

If you can swing it, I can't imagine anything better than a year studying in Italy. Okay, a year studying in Italy while shacking up with a beautiful woman, in Italy...okay, a year studying while shacking up with TWO beautiful women...hmm, not much time for studying left, eh?

Seriously, Italy is a primo destination, chock full of great places to take little side trips to on your weekends or short breaks. Italian is a relatively easy language to learn, the people are great, transportation is decent, weather good...go for it!

worldwidemike (currently, not shacking up with anybody )

Hey PF23! Year in Italy, I'm sooo jealous, in a positive way! That's great, definitely travel all around Italy if you can, North-Sourth, East-West! And if you can squeeze in, do the 2 countries sandwiching you, France and Spain!

Slovenia and Croatia are close, cheapish and beautiful, too.

Hey Tumbleweedz,

I've read a bit about Croatia, so know some of what there is to see there. But what about Slovenia? What is there to do or see there? I've kind of been keeping Slovenia in mind as a "back pocket" trip -- one I whip out at the last second when my planned destination falls through...

So, any info you have on it would be great...

wwm - Slovenia - lively Ljubljana, alps and caves, rural villages and a little stretch of Adriatic coast... just a couple of hours from Venice. And it's small, so you can see a lot even on one of those inhamane two week annual vacations! We have to leave Vilnius next year (ARRRGH!) but will most likely leave the continent via Venice, so we're trying to time it so we have about a week at that end, to see a little of this little known place - back-pocket trip, I like that!

How about Greece? It's a little further but you could do it in 10 days (or a month) and have a great time (well, you'll have a great time anywhere!) ..........
