Default Federales and a one-way ticket?

Alright, here is the deal:

I am flying into Belfast from Canada on a one-way ticket to conduct a multimonth tour of Europe. Someone at my workplace told me that customs will have a shit if they see I have a one-way ticket - so I planned on getting a statement of funds from my bank before I left, and keep it with me. Are there problems flying into a region with a one-way ticket? Anything I can do to mitigate the risk?

Peace
Thx

While I think it would be good to have proof that you are going home at some point, if you don't have that, at least have proof that you are moving on, i.e. leaving their country at a certain point. evidence of flights or reservations in other countries later in your trip might do it. and money. that never hurts.

I've heard you're more likely to have problems with the airlines than at customs, as the airlines get fined if you are denied entry and have to be flown back. I suggest calling them to make sure they're ok with you flying on a one-way ticket.

If you do end up needing a return/onward ticket, just buy the cheapest international ryanair ticket you can find even if you don't intend to use it.

Yeah it is true, i dont know how much trouble you'll have in Belfast as they seemed pretty slack when i was there but it is best to show them that your moving on and a statement of funds is a godsend at customs.

Where are you going after N. Ireland? If you're flying to the continent thats gonna be the Schengen area which UK is not part of. Just show them your onward ticket. I've never had a problem entering the Schengen area w/o proof of onward travel or funds. Mostly people from developing countries would have this problem.

Well... my plan is to hit Belfast, then go to Edinburgh and/or Glasgow, then I will probably fly to Poland (or somewhere else cheap in the East). But I don't want to have to book anything, aka flights from Glasgow to Krakow or whatever bc I want to play it by ear. Should I have a flight booked from UK to the East?

Shizen!

Well, looks like there are not too many flights east out of Edinburgh!!
I might as well just hit Glasgow, or am I doing myself a big disfavor by missing Edinburgh?

What about all of those cheap last minute Ryanair or Easyjet flights?

Thanks a lot Lizz!!!!!

I've never seen a cheap easyjet fare in my life. Maybe I'm not searching hard enough

I've never been but I wouldn't skip Edinburgh. It looks awesome!
