airfare $
is $950 a good deal for a multi city ticket that is nyc to athens, and then dublin or madrid to nyc? i'm going to be leaving on july 7th, should i snatch that price up or see if a better deal comes along.
i was also thinking of possibly buying a one way ticket to athens for $610 which would allow me to be more spontaneous about how long i stay and where i go, but i'm afraid that when i figure out when i want to come home airfare will have gone up again and it will cost me 800+ for a ticket home.

If that is after tax I'd say it's a good deal.. sometimes you wait for good deals and just get screwed.
But yeah doesn't sound too bad to me.

I would say that isn't bad but you're obviously getting screwed because of the time of year. I doubt, unless you plan to have a 2 month trip(which would take you into the shoulder season for airfares) that doing two one way tickets would be cost effective. One of the things I would do, not knowing your itinerary of course, is find out what a NYC-Athens round tripper would cost and then what a cheap inter-Europe flight from Madrid to Athens would cost at the end of the trip. Could save you a couple hundred bucks or not, but it might be worth checking.
Though I just took a quick peek at a couple of sites(ryanair and easyjet) and didn't see flights connecting the two cities. It really just depends on the flexibility of your itinerary I think. You know, if you can get a flight to Athens round trip and a cheapy flight from, say, Barcelona to Athens at the end of your trip would cost nothing, you might be able to save a couple hundred bucks.
Good luck.

Did you see what NYC to Athens and back is itself? Thats a good way to see if you're getting gouged.
Sometimes its cheaper to fly via some budget European airline back from your last destination to Athens.
But for summer, that probably is a decent price. Remeber to check sites like kayak.com if you didn't know already.

In my searches, it seems as though that's a great price for the open-jaw style ticket. Factoring what it would cost to get back to Athens, probably stay another night there, and get back to NYC I think you're saving money. And you're definitely saving time by not flying east from dublin/madrid to athens, then retracing your path west to NYC.
as they say on sports commercials...just do it.

well, i waited and found an air india flight roundtrip to london for $697. booked it :D then i'll be able to hop an easyjet for under $150 to athens.
one of my friends has flown air india a few times, but all business class. anyone had any experience with their economy class? i'm already booked so it's not like there's anything i can do, just like to know what to expect.
