Your top TRAVEL websites ?!?
I am not sure if this has been done before, but for new kids like me, and many others who are in my shoes - could the vets list their top TRAVEL related websites (for planning, booking, information, research, transport, etc) ??
Lets say list your top 5-10, and keep it coming baby! Or just keep expanding on this list...
Obviously there is no need to list travelpunk here !
I will go first:
1. http://www.virtualtourist.com - great tips from everywhere in the world
2. http://www.canuckabroad.com/ - tips for canadians abroad
3. http://www.airtransat.com/ - cheapest flights I have seen out of N.A.

to be perfectly honest, I hardly use any other websites apart from this one. any other info I usually get from guidebooks. but, I guess I can add a couple:
1. http://www.virtualtourist.com - great tips from everywhere in the world
2. http://www.canuckabroad.com/ - tips for canadians abroad
3. http://www.airtransat.com/ - cheapest flights I have seen out of N.A.
4. http://www.hostelz.com/ - even if you don't end up using this site to book, the customer reviews are really helpful and as far as I know, not censored
5. http://www.flickr.com/ - not a travel website, but looking at other people's photos of a place I am going is a great way to get excited about a trip
6. ...

For initial research on a new places, I usually try lonelyplanet.com and wikitravel.com. Don't be afraid to edit the articles on wikitravel if you've been somewhere!

http://www.hostelworld.com (looking up accomdations)
http://www.gridskipper.com (a bit pretentious sometimes but there are some good suggestions in there if you dig around)

I can't beleive there's a thread on a travel site about other travel sites! The Competition!!!! lol
There is only ONE place you need to look for travel info... and it's right HERE!!!! I don't think a question has ever gone unanswered since the beginning of this wonderful community.
ALL HAIL THE GREAT TRAVELPUNK!!!!!!!
all that aside I think people can Facebook their way around the world. It's a great tool for meeting people all over the world. you can ask them questions first hand, and maybe even hook up some free places to stay. well at least you could hook up?! j/k
