Of all the things I need to worry about and that could go wrong this is going to seem very trivial but I was curious about it anyways and looking for some help...
1) I am flying into Gatwick and was wondering what the easiest/cheapest way to get into the main part of London is?
2) This is the trivial one... what is the best way to take pictures of yourself with all the amazing sites in Europe? I am a solo traveler. Are traveling companions you meet, a small lightweight tripod, or something else easier??
it's really easy to get from gatwick to the city-- there are several buses, the train station isn't very far AND there's a nifty new fast train service called Gatwick Express that takes only about 30 minutes and goes to Victoria Station. It's a tad expensive, though, at about 11 - 18 pounds sterling one way depending. Check it out here There's also one for Heathrow here and one for Stansted here
Not the cheapest way to go but probably the quickest.
As for the pics, ask another tourist to take the pics for you, and then offer todo the same for them, as they might be in the same boat as you. And you will meet people on your adventure who may join you for some sight seeing, so it will not be an every day problem
I go with CD on the asking another tourist. Besides getting a picture from them, and offering to take one in return, see what sites they've been to. I've had people tell me about the closest club, what hostel not to go to, and found out about local events (like a flaminco club in Madrid). Good luck.
