Default Possible free trip???

a friend of mine went on Judge Mathis, and for going he got a free trip to Chicago. Hell they did the fake court thing and then the program paid the amount my friend was awarded. SO my question is has anyone ever thought of doing that to go on a free trip? I am trying to talk a friend of mine into contacting them with me and then getting a free trip to Chicago for a couple days. Something us poor people can take advantage of.

Mooloo, Judge Mathis is a television show where two parties that have a monetary dispute go present their side of the case and based on what he thinks he makes one party pay the other. Naturally, the show pays the fine/funds due. It is about as lowbrow as American TV gets but a trip to Chicago and possibly some cash for just showing up is well worth it.

I say go for it and try to slip in a Travel Punk reference

strange, so the cases arn't real? just a way to get this judge on t.v? or does every1 know they arn't real, very odd! But if its a free trip and the possibility of some cash i say go for it!

Typically those Judge shows recruit people through small claims court filings. It's not exactly something where you just call them up and say "My buddy owes me $1000. I want to take him to court on your show." It's worth a try, but realize that producers "vet" these kind of cases so they may take you for a fraud.

I got a question: Does Judge Judy work in the same way?! Cos I watched that once and thought it was a load of shite. But are they actually REAL cases?! There was some real trailor trash on it.

(Of course, I'm sure they're very nice people...)

I wouldn't go on it, just cos there's no way I'd want people remembering me as the person that went on Judge Mathis.

I think they usually start as real cases...its a good deal for everyone because the show pays the "damages" and they dismiss the actual court case. So if you lose you don't end up owing anything, and if you win you actually get your money. Can you imagine trying to collect from some of the people that end up on those court shows??

Yes, but you have to understand the difference between small claims court case and a regular lawsuit. Small claims actions can be filed by just about anyone for any reason, so yeah, there can certainly be some trailer trash.

It would be way easier to just sleep with a first cousin and get a free trip to be on Jerry Springer or something...

Sleeping with a first cousin is far too tame. Make that a horse, and there's a spot open on the show!

My friend that went on Judge Mathis had a real dispute with his old roomate, but he never filed a claim or anything. He just got drunk and called the number and then couple days later they called him back. He won his "lawsuit" and then they paid what he was awarded. Completely a hoax show, they had people telling them how to act and what to do backstage, but he got a free trip to Chicago and 400 cash for nothing really.

Haha, but you have to be in LOVE with the horse, or something outrageous. And be completely appalled at the lack of interspecies spousal tax breaks or something. "A Love That Your Friends and Family Just Don't Understand."

*le sigh* That show has SO been done... Now... If you were an 800 pound man in love with a miniature pony... Or a little person in love with a Clydesdale... Plus, now that they have those stripper poles on the sides of the stage at least one of you should be able to do some pole tricks... Maybe an extra 20$ if it's the pony with the moves...

Ok, since this thread was about Judge Mathis I had to post this story. I guess this sort of also ties in with the lowbrow american culture thread too...
http://www.iht.com/articles/ap/2007/...ndoned-Leg.php

Quote:
COLUMBIA, South Carolina: A TV show judge has ended the bizarre custody battle over a severed leg accidentally sold at auction, ruling that a South Carolina man should be allowed to keep his amputated appendage.

Judge Greg Mathis ordered Shannon Whisnant to return a severed leg found inside a barbecue smoker he had bought in an auction. John Wood, whose leg was amputated after a plane crash, was ordered to reimburse Whisnant $5,000 for the cost of the leg.

"You're not getting that leg. I'm not giving you the man's leg," Mathis told Whisnant during the Thursday episode of the "Judge Mathis" show.

Whisnant had told the judge he wanted to open a museum and charge $10 to look at the limb.

"It's mine. It's a helluva conversation piece," he said.

Wood had kept the leg inside the smoker in a storage shed, but it went up for auction along with his other things when he could not pay the bill. When Whisnant bought the smoker, he found the leg inside, and later had it embalmed.

Wood said he wants the leg back so that it can be cremated with him when he dies.

Mathis dismissed Wood's claim for emotional distress caused by media coverage of the case.

"I think that you all, quite frankly, are enjoying this," Mathis said.

I'm pretty sure I just read that article like 3 times before I fully understood who's leg it was. I'm kind of speechless. LOL. This is as bad as Jerry Springer!

Me and some friends made up a BS story and called the Springer show and they bought it and were going to fly us out and then one friend bailed on us saying it wasnt moral and he would be shunned by his family. We couldnt even get someone to take his place cause they show believed the lie and had his name and id copy, etc. Would have been a free trip to Chicago and all we had to pay for was alcohol.

Oh well!

LOL too bad. My friend from high school, her cousins were on there, fighting over some girl (they were brother and sister, fighting over the same girl LOL).

to imagine, Jerry Springer was once the mayor of Cincinnati...
