hey guys,

i am writing to thank everyone on the board for there help. i haven't made many posts but searching through this board has helped me plan out my trip alot. i fly to europe for two months in less than two weeks from now and i am excited and nervous at the same time. i just decided to do this trip about a month as i am going through my own mid-mid life crisis (i am only 26). i came into some money and say f---- it! i'm going back to europe. i was just there in aug. 2003 on tour with my friends band. we played three shows in den haage and in a van all over spain. i also went to london and amsterdam about five years ago, but this time i am going by myself for the first time. i will be there for two months and i plan on doing the whole hostel thing and hope to meet up with many people on the way. i now have my first week planned out. i land in london, stay there for two days, fly to dublin, stay there for two days then two days in cork, then i fly to brussels. from there it's an open schedule for me. i have a eurorail unlimited two month pass so i want to see as much as possible. i plan on france, italy, barcelona (only spain city i spent no time in), switzerland, germany, prague (if possible) then fly out of amsterdam. so that's my story.
i was just looking for some advice as to what i can expect or just some of your guys first time stories. also i fly into ireland on march 13 and fly out on march 17. has anyone been in dublin during st. patrick's day. i have a late flight and want to party in dublin a little before i leave. anyone been?
forgive my ramblings, i've had a couple drinks.
thanks again guys.

Well, I'd say expect to me some of the coolest and most laid back people when you're hosteling around. Your fellow travelers will tend to be very friendly, you'll hook up and do stuff, then go your separate ways, then darned if you don't run into them again a couple weeks later in another country.

It'll give you whole new outlook on life, IMO. And remember, don't feel obligated to follow any schedule you dreamed up at home, not knowing what it was going to be like out on the road. It's YOUR trip, change it when you want. If a country is boring you, leave! If you want to spend more time somewhere, stay!

Have a blast!
