Default Ireland Bound

Hey all. Just got back from an 8month trek all over Asia. I made 3 promises to myself before I left and managed to break them all within the first coupl o weeks.... opps! Anyways the upshot is that I met a guy who happens to live on the other side of the world, Ireland, whilst Im all the way over in the land of Oz.

Im back in the land of Oz working two jobs seven days a week saving up the dosh. Does anyone have any advice in regards to visas and such. Im wanting to apply for a working holiday visa which I know is possible for young Aussies. But what I relly need to know is how long this visa lasts for and also if its possible for me to travel in and out of Ireland. I have all these visions of taking off to Paris or Amsterdam for long weekend trips. Thanks heaps in advance guys.

Ashby.

Hey, first and foremost i have to say that ireland is the greatest country ever! I love it so much! Secondly you should have too much trouble getting a working holiday maker visa. I believe australians go through BUNAC as they have agreements with the UK/Ireland much like Canada does so i would look to them first. Cheap flight are definitely possible although the prices do go up a fair bit friday - sunday. Easyjet, ryan air, bmibaby are all good for cheap flights. Ive done the working holiday maker thing (northern ireland) and it was fantastic! Hope that helps!

are you talking about ireland or northern ireland? If you want to work in northern ireland, you can do this on a UK working holiday visa which lasts 2 years (although you can only work for one year during that time) and you can come and go as you please. It costs around $280 and you apply to the british high commission. the republic of ireland is an entirely different country and i'm sorry but i'm not sure about that one.

Maybe you should go for that UK working holiday it would give you allot of freedom to move about and even do some work if needs be. There are no borders between North and south Ireland anymore so you'll be completely free to move as you please.
