So my wife and I are thinking about auditioning for the Amazing Race. It is amazing how many people over the last couple of years have told us that we should try out for the show. It would be a fucking great time if we got on the show. Has anyone thought about this or actually tried out?

Yeah thats a bummer!! The next season is an allstar season so we will have to wait a little longer. More time to work on our audition video though!

OH YOUR SOOOOOO LUCKY! I want to try out sooo bad. But i'm Canadian. I already have my partner picked out. We would make such good TV together haha. Seriously this is the only reality show that I would ever want to be on. Good luck with yor audition. And yes can't wait for the all-star series! (can you tell it's my favourite show!!)

I'd never thought about it, but this thread has me seriously considering...except that I'm not 21 yet. Although if the next season is an all-star then it doesn't make a difference.
I was talking to my friend and we think (or would like to think) that we'd kick ass...she's a year younger though, so no go until 2009 for her. Anyone want to be my partner for the 2008 show? :P

Pretty sure the sober thing is impossible. The show would probably drag on forever as the producers would always be pulling us out of bars! Thats a good thing though, extend the race and the buzz

freespiritz! I'll partner up with ya. We can practice while in 'nam/bodia
I have though about it but you have to wonder how it annoying it might be. I figure the majority of us here are very independent travelers and we will be stuck in some sort of hollywood/corporate setting that would be unpleasurable for us true travelers.
On the other hand, the money and whatnot would be nice. And all this practice I am getting traveling the world would come in handy as far as making better time than the others...

Haha, I'm totally going to refer to this as the Nambodia trip from now on. :P I can definitely see us sprinting around Angkor Wat looking for non-existent clues - it would be brilliant!
I think it would be fun to do the Amazing Race just for the hell of it - I definitely wouldn't be expecting to experience a country in depth the way I normally would. And you never know, with that million bucks you can always go back and check out things for real...

Point taken. I'm in! Now we have to make a video
And I am all for sprinting around Angkor Wat as part of our Nambodia adventures

Sounds like you've been to a meetup! :D
I've thought about the audition thing, but this, just as every other game show I've ever tried to go on have always had their auditions just before I found out, leaving me outta the loop once more.
This being said, I think a TP-takeover could prove to be interesting. Though I'd want to partner up with Jake, I'm afraid we'd get kicked off the first episode for chasing skirts and bar-hopping instead of the prescribed "challenges," I'll have to take someone more responsible, like WWMike :D

^^^ Agreed.
But make it where you are not ALLOWED to be sober during it. That makes it more fun. Like maybe a race from Madrid to St. Petersburg with required stops and photos to get to the next place. I will be going for Heineken as my personal sponsor. I have drank enough of their beer where they owe me now...

Ive thought about it, but never followed up by actaully trying to apply. I cant help but think that I would own that show. Always pick the physical task over the time consuming one!
