Working in France summer 2004

hello all,
i am going to france on a work visa with SWAP canada this april, and I was wondering whether anyone else has done this, or has experience working in France. Here is the basic itinerary that I am batting around right now...

-Paris, (a few days, a weeK? two?)
-South France - live/work in nice, marseille, some beautiful beach city, wherever i can get work i guess for a month or so
-do trips from nice to spain, italy, etc. ibiza?
-head back up north, ohama beach/normandy
-cross channel to england
-hopefully hop on a boat from british east coast to Norway
-get across to Oslo, stay with family,
-head down to Goteborg, Sweden, stay with friends,
-head back down south through Germany to the Nurburgring racetrack, and possibly munich to the BMW museum etc...
-fly out of Paris

so thats it.
Does anyone know anything about getting from britain to norway either flying or boat? preferably boat, but im not sure of the prices...
I'm trying to keep this a budget trip.
I really appriciateany advice anyone has about this!

There is a ferry from Britain to Norway. You can hop on one from Newcastle, I think. Well, from somewhere around there. I think it goes into Bergen but I could just be talking out of my ass. But you should consider taking Ryanair from London Stansted to Oslo Torp. You can then take the bus from Torp into Oslo. It is bound to be less expensive.

My boyfriend lives in Larvik, Norway. I flew into Torp to visit family in Oslo before taking a train down to see him. The plan was to head back to Oslo to catch a flight out. I felt like an ass when i found out that Torp is 20 minutes from his apartment!

anyway, practice this phrase for when you find yourself cruising the city solo:

Unnskyld, kan du ta et bilde av meg?
(oonshild, can doo ta et bilda of my)

it means "excuse me, can you take my picture?"

go to Ryanair.com for more flight info. The earlier you book the flight the cheaper it is.

yeah, i have some family in oslo i'm planning on visiting too
