Become a GlobeTrekker Host!

Stumbled upon this the other day! Figured more than a few of you would enjoy it!

I think you need to be pretty charismatic to get this kind of job. Also need to be open minded. I lack both but it would be damn cool to travel the world, be on tv, and get paid for it.

I concur. Luckily for me I am both. I do however lack a camera and occasionally the wit that is neccesary for this!

I do think it would be sick as hell to be a guide doesn't even have to be on camera, just a regular old "Hey I'll take you to Costa Rica and make sure you stay safe if you give me 1,000 dollars!" type of guide.

Yeh not only do you have to be well spoken but you need some kinda of stereotype. Adrenline junikie, partier, travel guru, comedian, trouble maker, or some kind of personality that will make viewers enjoying watching the show. News anchors simply need charisma but people like what their looking for have to have a niche with enteracting with people in a enteraining way.

That'd be great...I'm enough of a witty(hmm I'm probably half right there :D) goof to pull it off, too, but perhaps a bit too darkly so at times George Carlin humor probably wouldn't be appreciated

I can always try for a job on the Daily Show

That would be awesome but yeah, I don't think I'd be entertaining enough.

Hmmm, culinary prowess...Hmmm...

Maybe they wouldn't mind having a drug-addled freak hosting their shows....

Its called Globe Trekker, Pilot Guides or Lonely Planet. It seems the three guides they use most frequently, Ian Wright, Justine Shapiro, and Megan McCormick, do fill a stereotype. I myself don't like Justine Shapiro. I think she's a bit snobby. Megan McCormick is the "girl next door" stereotype. Ian is my fav guide. He's like your "buddy."

Ian does indeed rock.

I feel compelled to point out though that Pilot Guides is in no way affliated with Lonely Planet.

Is their name just a coincidence or they used to be related, but split? I've been getting "Globe Trekker" videos from my local library but some of the ones shot in the earlier years go under the title "Lonely Planet" or "Pilot Guides" but they all follow the same format, same theme music, and have the same hosts as Globe Trekker.

I used to watch that programme all the time. Im pretty tempted to try and put something together for this - if you don't try you dont get!! Plus it would be a good laugh making it anyway.

Will have to get my hands on a camera first though - don’t think im allowed to borrow one from uni again after they accused me of losing its battery.
